Running 43:21 [2] 5.67 km (7:39 / km)
ahr:139 max:152 weight:151lbs

BHAC/S
Warmer and more humid.
Basic loop in 34:30.

Recumbent warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Tried one of the new bikes. It's called Star trac. In addition to the back to rest on, this has arm rests (optional). It also has a little fan to keep you cool.
Tried the Alpine Pass program. Started at level 16, but this was way to high. Level 10 was OK until the second hill (of three). Went to level 8 for the tough part and then back to 10. Didn't see how to set the time, but the default was 20 minutes, good.

Strength (machines) 1:00:00 [1]

Usual set of machines, plus Dip.

Cool and gloomy. A few sprinkles on the way to BH. Wore long sleeve poly and a T in case it rained. It didn't, so I was somewhat overdressed.
Basic loop in 33:06.

At E's garden at her brothers. This garden has a permanent fence, but the soil needs to be turned, which is what I did today. About half done.

Had trouble reading all the small trails for the first two controls. OK after that. Bad route to 7, went down to the stream and back up the other side. Should have avoided all of the climb. Slow time to 8. Not sure why, maybe tired from the climb to 7.

Orienteering race 16:28 [3] *** 2.2 km (7:29 / km) +35m 6:56 / km
14c

Buffalo Orienteering Festival. Sprint at Emery Park. Course 2 (M65).
Flat, open and a down hill finish. Being in better shape is the only way I could have improved on the time.

About an hour total. It's the high season for grass.

Sunday May 10, 2009 #

Orienteering race 2:46:57 [2] *** 10.7 km (15:36 / km) +305m 13:39 / km
22c

Billygoat Run at Nottingcook Forest, Bow, NH

After last year's BG, I had some concerns about finishing this year. Was very pleased to see the course was under 11 Km and about 300 M climb.
Went with George Hawes and Craig Weber. The original plan was to skip #4, but changed that to #15. Did not have trouble with any of the controls. The climb into #20 was tough and the climb down after #20 was scary, maybe staying farther right would have been better. GPS recorded 12.33 Km.
