Another nice map, woods and course. Overall a good weekend.

Orienteering race 1:39:58 [3] *** 5.9 km (16:57 / km) +240m 14:05 / km
16c

Keystone Capers. Day 1 at Deer Lakes Park. M60.

Apparently not mentally ready as I lost time at 1, 3, 4, 6 and 15. Lost a good 15 minutes total. Other than that I enjoyed the run. Nice woods, nice map and a very nice course.

Wednesday Jun 22, 2011 #

Trail running 1:21:42 [2] 9.65 km (8:28 / km) +182m 7:44 / km

Baird Park.
The run was delayed due to a passing t-storm. I expected the rain to stop, but it didn't. I should realize that 15 to 20 percent probability is not zero.
Even though it rained for the entire run, it wasn't uncomfortable and I had the trails to myself.

Deer fly tally: Hat ~45, manual 1 and no bites.

And the mystery of the dead woman has been solved. She has been identified and the believed killer is also dead (self induced).

Trail running 1:52:28 [2] 12.62 km (8:55 / km) +224m 8:11 / km

Baird Park
Beautiful day. Temp from mid 60s to low 70s, sunny and calm. A bit humid. No deer flies yet.

It looked like the park was back to normal, but on my second time around the South loop I saw some troopers on JBSP road, just off the Taconic. The investigation continues. They still don't know the identity of the woman.

Monday Jun 13, 2011 #

Note

The police activity at Baird yesterday was because someone had found a woman's body in the park, on fire!

Recumbent warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Star trac. Alpine Pass program.
Levels 12/9/11.

Strength (machines) 1:00:00 [1]

Usual set of machines.

Sunday Jun 12, 2011 #

Note

Planned on running at Baird Park, but when I got the Freedom Road entrance I found it blocked with traffic cones. No indication of why. So I looped around to the Taconic Parkway side. This too was blocked, this time by a State Police car. Four troopers were walking along the sides of the road. So for plan B I headed to Fahnestock SP.

Trail running 1:04:19 [2] 7.64 km (8:25 / km) +144m 7:42 / km

Fahnestock SP.
Parked at Pelton Pond. Started to the east to get around the campgrounds. Looked like the campers were packed in like sardines. Not my idea of the wilderness experience. Once past the campgrounds, I was on my own. Not a sole on the trails. Would have liked to have had a map (Bushy Ridge). I'll have to leave one in the car in case I do this again.

Forgot to put on my FR so the time is just a guess. Map (and distance) provided but the San Diego Track Club. Very flat. Nice route, going by a marina, a golf course, the bay and the ocean.
