US champs middle. Legs felt pretty decent today. Managed to have a mostly clean run so I was able to beat out some big names AJ and Joe were also within striking distance but I'm sure they lost plenty of time.

1-2 - Good, lots of people just had to make sure I was headed to the right control
3 - Found a little trail at the top of the cliffs, just kinda slow getting up the muddy hill
4 - Map was kinda funky but kept my direction and was ok
5 - The green was actually accurate today so kinda slow on this one but managed to pop right out at the control
6 - there was a whole ass unmapped trail that was certainly not minor which sent me off back out to the clearing. Then the way to the small cliffs messed me up in the circle but luckily I saw the control
7-8 - good job on the short legs
9 - My legs felt surprisingly ok going up this long uphill and I was able to run the whole way
10 - Was very concerned I would lose a bunch of time but I just kept my bearing and eventually hit the control
11 - good
12 - a little low after coming out from the water stop
13 - good
14 - good
15 - good but slow up the hill
16-17 - solid bearings, but these small reentrants seem to be mapped a little weird as is was not like I was visualising
18 - good
19 - drifted a little right but corrected
20 - the creek was kinda slow and rocky
21 - main mistake of the race. Did not see the man-made object at the top of the hill so I figured I was too far left and corrected for that on the downhill but according to the GPS I was right on top of it so I ended up too far right. Then there were some unmapped cliffs that I followed along since I thought I was at the cliff left of the control until I saw the arena and went back the other way to find it
22 - Rushing after my last mistake and lost a bit of time looking for it

Overall: Quite happy with this race technically, and felt much better physically. But the map left a but to be desired in some parts which lead to some mistakes since I oversimplified some areas that looked easy.

Push it a bit to much yesterday so I knew this was gonna hurt after the hill to 2. Technically went well but physically I was dieing and couldn't run for most of the hills. Happy to have finished my first true m21 long in ~2 hours

1 - My only real mistake of the race, hit something that would usually be mapped as a cup depression from what I'm used to but I guess it's not big enough here. Stoped and made real sure I wasn't about to go to low as to save elevation.
2 - good but slow uphill
3 - The passable cliffs on the map were switched to the trench symbol somehow so they were all so thin you could barley see them unless you really looked for them. Didn't really notice at this point but it would have helped
4 - well executed, just slow
5 - got first on this leg somehow
6 - found a nice bench to run along, just slow going uphill
7 - good bearing, realising the green did not matter anymore
8 - should have not climbed as much at the start of the leg
9 - Should not have gone that far around, the green was super open
10 - short
11 - Was kinda dying even though it was flat/downhill running. Quads were totally dead at this point and were not even half way.
12 - good route and execution but a route going through all the dark green would have been faster since the green was way faster than it was mapped
13 - Terrible route, not sure what was going through my head here.
14 - Impossible to see the passable cliffs on the map but I just kept my bearing
15 - good, just slow
16 - Some sketchy cliff I went over and across bc it looked like others had as well. Running on the road felt good but then the climb back up killed me
17 - Good
18 - good
19 - good
20 - Major hamstring cramp going down a hill
21 - good
22 - good

Overall: Nav was on point but my legs were dead from yesterday.

HR is pretty sus, not sure that it's physically possible for me to sustain that but certainly felt hard. Was running pretty near the edge of my nav abilities but managed to keep it under control for the most part. Just a bunch of traps that tripped me up. Nothing severe tho

1 - Good start, looking at the previous map certainly helped here
2 - Good
3 - Route was slightly longer but I was probably running a little faster so got first on the leg
4 - I planned to take the route around but decided to take the stairs when I saw them. Definitely the wrong choice. Lost some seconds
5 - good RC, almost thought I was running to 6 for a sec but caught it
6 - good
7 - Started to run into a trap and had to back out quickly. Lost a some seconds
8 - Thought the wall by 7 was passable but then saw it and realized is was not, recovered quickly tho
9 - Didn't read all the detail at the control so it was not as smooth as I would have liked
10 - Thought there was a gap in the fence...there was not. Lost like 20s. Route was probably going to be equal at best anyways.
11 - Good
12 - The wall was marked as passable but it was not. Everyone went that way so didn't really matter
13-14 - Easy short legs
15 - Fence wasn't marked on the map but probably the worse route regardless
16 - Good, seemed to gain some speed by taking the stairs
17 - Wacky stuff going in the control circle. Legs getting pretty tired by now
18 - Wall was not marked on the map so had to go around it a little bit. Eric bone was in front ofme so I kinda followed him in to it
19 - Good. Stairs looked like an impassable wall on the map due to the way to small steps and a contour going through it. Knew there would be stairs so went through them anyways
20 - Chasing down Mr Bone
21 - Wacky description
22 - Pushing pretty hard, good DC too

Overall: went out a but fast and couldn't maintain it by the end. Would have been better to slow down slightly in the middle to not make as many mistakes
