Found some motivation for a longer one, primarily down to the fact it wasn't horrendously windy. Nice calm morning in fact, headed out via Dalkeith CP and up through Carberry on some mtb trails, then on some gravel over to the castle. Down to the coast and back up the cycle paths, actually felt stronger as it went on, maybe the porridge digesting and kicking in.

Test run. Mostly ok, just 'feelings' and hyper aware of it but no pain, 0-1. Then did get some sharper pain, 2-3, at 10mins and took a walking break, carried on and it was ok, then similar again at 20mins, and was maybe a noticeable 1-2 at the end. Better than last Sunday I think and no pain walking back up the stairs. Will see how it reacts I guess.

3 x 45s isometrics at ~3pm and again in the evening. Both times not feeling great tbh, no pain during but some pain on release and also some pain on a couple test eccentrics. Backwards a few days it would seem.

Down to Cramond via getting a bit lost in Granton, then bit of a grind into a headwind along the coast. Then up the river almond path including a couple carries up/down steps (which the achilles coped with fine) and back on the cycle path. Felt pretty tired actually for some reason.

Some quite cool mist hanging around on the tops too. Still not completely out the woods with the achilles, has felt 99% for a while, but reckon as long as I don't do anything stupid then eventually I'll forget about it.

Made it a bit grim for myself by having tailwind for the first two 6s and then headwind for the last 6 and 2 x 3. Wanted 3 x 3 really but was becoming an above-threshold effort to keep the paces consistent, maybe should've backed off but ah well. Finished off with 2 x 20s sprints on gradually uphill tarmac. Legs average, but happy with the calves not getting super tight, and shins all good.

Easy on the moors, which have returned to full boggy winter conditions overnight. Very much sub-optimal conditions for the achilles with lots of slipping and sliding, plus a fair amount of being submerged in cold water, but it seems to have survived pretty well.

Legs felt decent and next few days look like grim weather so got the session done today. Moving quite nicely but legs getting tired towards the end, just not used to the pounding on hard-ish surfaces. Did 2 strides after which felt like hard work.

Some hills in a nice bit of afternoon sun. Hit up Stocks Ln to start with, a couple reps to halfway and then a full climb. Did overheat a bit though, and then got a bit cold as the sun dropped later on. Went up the Jerusalem Farm climb and then Jerry Fields Ln/Clunters Ln, along the top and down Cragg. Tried to take the climbs chill but easier said than done and quads a bit tired by the end. Big curry after, happy days.

Bit the bullet with a more proper session. Achilles fine throughout and seems to have coped well after. Took a while to get the legs turning but fitness felt alright, legs definitely more the limiting factor than the heart and lungs. L IT band a little tight on WU but improved, both calves pretty tight after, L more so.
