9 AM

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Orienteering race 43:25 [5] 7.34 km (5:55 / km) +153m 5:21 / km
ahr:178 max:186

SHI Relays, Clydach terrace.
Was in the mixer with Nixon and a couple others until #12, where it felt like things were going well, but was probably quite overextended so fumbled both gaffles in view of the spectator and promptly fell off the train. Felt exhausted at that point and just plodded it home cleanly. Happy with this though considering, definitely could’ve been something had I not been ill, so can take it as learning, and come back for the real race in two weeks. Also positively, I’ve learnt what I can and can’t do with a cold, and the signs of something coming on, which I can almost certainly say was the hr already being elevated on Thursday. Anyway Scotland took the W so no complaints there.

Saturday Sep 9 #

10 AM

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)

Little wudding

Orienteering race 1:28:07 [4] 13.63 km (6:28 / km) +300m 5:49 / km
ahr:175 max:185

SHI Individual, Merthyr common - 5th
Had a sore throat in the night last night and was hot in the room so started the day dehydrated, combined with being a long dry race, so I had absolutely nothing to give after about 7 controls. Really fell apart physically near the end when joe caught me, felt out of it, was walking fair bit and made a mess of the last few. Wouldn’t usually take this so hard but just disappointing cos I knew I had the legs to do something this weekend. Sadly blessed with a cold and a stupidly high hr.

Shaking off the travel legs from Bryn Bach round the lake. Unbelievably good vibes, maybe the most pink sky I’ve ever seen, lotta love for wales :)
