Got back late on the train and had a little bit of light left. Really hot and sticky and just fancied getting out to refresh after a lot of travelling (and a huge lunch, hours ago!). Steady round by Church Island, up to Britannia bridge layby and back. Distance/climb a guess.

Scottish Day 6. Blew 3 mins on 16, and 2 other small mistakes. Rest of the course felt good but slow and hard going towards the end, and the loop on the other hill across the marsh felt like a slog. Bring back the forested dunes!

Back to feeling good again! Early start but Roseisle was beautifully runnable. Completely overshot no 1, then won the leg to 2 to redeem myself! After that I was a little cautious/indecisive on route choices for the next few but gradually got into the area and felt like I was running well by the second half. A little sharper on the first half and it would have been a brilliant run, but still pleased with the result. 63 was decent but I feel like 59 was within reach without the early wobbles, and would have been very respectable.

Scottish 6 Day 4 - Loch of Boath. Ran W21E in conjunction with Euromeeting/WRE

Been feeling good in my running and my orienteering all week and today just felt like back to square one, back where I was months ago with no training and little motivation to really try to run hard in rough terrain. Had the first start so was running in virgin forest and I just didnt feel strong or confident enough to run through it. Was a bit disheartened as I knew it was slow even when I was out there, and I didn't push it on the path/grassy runs as much as I could have. Really disappointed - forested sand dunes are all very well but I need to go away and toughen up in the Welsh mountains I think!

Scottish 6 Day 3 - Culbin. Hip still sore but started to ease with a good warmup and lots of stretching and I barely noticed it once I got going. First couple of controls were quite slow, took me a few minutes to get moving but after that felt pretty good throughout. Clean run, cant complain, 7th (3rd Brit) and I think today's run/result is as good as I'm capable of at present.

Scottish 6 Day 2 - Carse of Ardesier. Nice, but vague forest with more typical heathery undergrowth, fewer paths and more straight line options but that actually made it feel quite a bit tougher than yesterday. Hip a little sore on jog to start and got worse as the run went on - really sore walking around in the afternoon and not quite sure what's brought this on as its not a familiar pain. Didn't feel quite as smooth today.

Scottish 6 Day - Day 1 Lossie. Feeling good, moving well and actually found some control flow, but then blew 2.5 mins on no 14 right near the end. Route choice generally good although could have stayed a little more on line in places. Overall pretty pleased though - and like the new shoes!
