shoes: New Balance Vazee Summitt Trai

Schuylkill Valley Family Adventure (Race). Team Noah's Big Adventure.

We got there too early, and Noah was ready to go. He rode a new bike that he's borrowing from Zoe before we started, then stated "I don't want to do a race" and "I don't want to find checkpoints." Note - get there later!

I knew that it would be close to finish the full course, and even more so with Noah riding with Rebekah. I finally got him in the Ergo carrier about 20+ minutes in, as Rebekah was already pretty tired of carrying him and the hill. We chose to skip a bonus section early that would have added an extra half mile, and that was a wise choice as it eased up our gameplan. We struggled with one of the stonewall points, and kinda ramped up our speed afterwards. We somehow missed a point in the section stream section - it must have been hiding low. We chose to not go back and grab it, which was pretty silly, as it would have taken less than a minute.

We had a few orienteering sections on our 2nd half, which helped up pick up some speed, and Rebekah was feeling much better on flat ground. We missed an optional point towards the end, as Rebekah ran ahead to grab it, called back "should I get V?" and I responded "yes, come to me!" The last o-section around CP 5 was a ton of fun (even if we saw a 4 foot snake on the trail on the way!!), we motored through it and finished in just under 2 hours, with about 4 or 5 minutes left. We lost to Erik by just one point, but they had a bigger kid!

A super fun race with a huge crowd. The race felt like the frantic ending to an AR, but with no calm before the storm. Noah can't wait for the next one!

shoes: New Balance Leadville 1210

Run at Cheslen. Legs were a bit sore from the run with pack yesterday, and the pace showed it. Not super hot, but humid and buggy. Realized that this might be my last Cheslen run of the year, so I focused on elevation, and I didn't disappoint - 1100+ ft.

Run at Harmony Hill. Went to the orthopedist for my toe. It's broken, but the ligament only pulled off a tiny chip of bone. so I just need to manually stretch it out to get the scar tissue to loosen up. Been incredibly busy after school and in the evenings this week, so it was nice to finally get out to the trails.

Wore a heavy-ish pack and moved rather well. Tried to get some decent elevation in, and explored two little side trails.
