Orienteering race (Long Distance) 1:50:00 [4]

Long Distance
Was keen to do a long practice, but it was made clear right from the start that 1. My ankle was not going to come to the party and
2. My brain was not in orienteering mode.

Whilst i did not make any real mistakes over 2min or so i was just so dam indecisive and messy on most controls, the actually physical aspect was FINe i was pretty strong at the end but i just didnt get into the map and i realised at about number 10 that somewhere in controls 8-9 i had mentally given it all up.

Ankle really dicey afterwards so didnt even warm down.

Guess its all good practice/experience

Orienteering race (Sprint) 18:32 [5]
shoes: DS Trainer 14

Sprint for NOL races in Newcastle - at the uni there.
WAs a super fun course/map, physically i felt how i expected as i am not running any speed work at present, Ankle was ok apart from turning corners which you do alot of in sprints.

Nav wise, made errors on number 4, 5 and 6 which meant i was caught by Grace at about number 8, from there we took some different route choices but were together pretty much to the end. Ended up 6th, not too disappointed as we all (Kiwi girls) had average runs but placed top 6 so at least i didnt have a compete blow out.

Beautiful weather!

run warm up/down 25:00 [3]

Warm up before and after the sprint
2 PM

Orienteering race (Middle) 38:52 [4]

Middle Race in the afternoon.
Started off a bit shakey, too low on 1 then 2 didnt really have a plan, from there i decided to get my act together and was ok for a few, number 9 i was on a good line and then passed the too tracks as planned and went in too early, lost about 1min, then 10 drifted too far right lost about 30s

12 is where the main time was lost... i was really pleased with the first 2/3 of my leg, executed well running pretty straight, then passed number 1 on my left opted to follow track around to avoid green shit, then came to a track that looked massive, however the massive tracks on the map didnt match up, this screwed with me and i ran up and down for ages trying to figure it out, came to the conclusion that something was weird so went to where i was heading in the first place and got the control....GRRRRRRRRRRRR

the next leg was easy and to the spectator, however i managed to trip on something, go down on my left shin and right knee and then totally face plant resulting in me also winding myself and lying on the ground for a good 30-40secs wondering what had just happened! I had tripped on a log in the long grass, and then that had been what my chest had hit when i face planted...OUCH! took a while to get over this after the spec as legs and knee was sore and breathing was out of whack, didnt really stuff any others up just took it easy.

Ankle not too bad, was a bit dicey from spec control onwards as i found this more uneven/green

Considering mistakes and unfortunate events not too pissed at myself, yes the result was bad but im confident i could have been top 6

run warm up/down 15:00 [3]

10min warm up jog with Lits and 5 min hobble on ankle and sore EGG shin to try warm down - this was then cut short by me decided to get some ice for my shin
