British sprints qualifier - 1st?
Big mix up with the M20 courses/maps meant Jim and I had to run 1-3 instead of 1-2 on a punching start. Bit of a delay but ultimately got away fine. Pushed too hard at the start, having a couple of small hesitations in the first built up section.
Rest was all fine - took the foot considerably off the gas when I caught sight of Jim at #22 and just tempo’d in from there.

Running 14:02 intensity: (1:11 @1) + (12:21 @2) + (28 @3) + (2 @4) 2.47 km (5:41 / km)
ahr:132 max:164 shoes: Brooks Hyperion

WD with Jim and Fin - whole courses thing meant we were stood at the finish for about 20 minutes getting stiff and cold so this was just an attempt to loosen off a bit.

WU. Only found out when I was starting under 30 mins before so this was a bit rushed, but got to the start all fine. You’ll probably hear lots about the issues today but ultimately everyone tries their best, it was an honest mistake, and the courses were top notch. So, really, no worries.

Sprint final - 1st
Had watched the lads in front all looking very wobbly off the start so went slow and realised they’d in fact gone the wrong way. Nailed the routechoice and knew that I would have put time in from the off.
Ticked off the next few no bother and caught fin going back over the motorway. Engaged in a full on bear hug/collision with another competitor going into #13, which wasn’t ideal, but I respected our mutual lack of desire to back down from the predicament. Game recognises game.
Behind Jim by this point but got ahead to #16 when he misread the levels. Started to feel it but pushed on and nailed all the remaining controls before just a filthy raz into the finish.
Overall, pleased with that. Didn’t get caught out and was very pleased with the geeking done in advance. Onwards.

Shake round johns. Forgot my camcard and the watch porter (who I’d ran past around 14 minutes beforehand) felt the need to radio his boss to check that I was in fact a member of trin, even though I’ve run past him many times previously and if I did wish to heist the college at 7:40am on a Saturday morning I would probably go in through the unmanned entrance round the other side.
Still, spiced up the morning a bit.

Running 10:52 intensity: (16 @0) + (6 @1) + (2:57 @2) + (7:33 @3) 1.83 km (5:56 / km) +62m 5:05 / km

Trains nightmare so this was a bag-laden gallumph from the station to assembly. Uphill as well - rude.

British MSR
Running third leg on FVO second team. Struggled off the start to execute the tricky #1 - some hesitation but got into the groove after that, barring a small pause to check an extremely intricate bit of map round #3.
Biggest time loss was at #10 when I had to check descriptions to see what side it was on - could have done with a nice lead in here but ah well. Comedy tumble here as well didn’t help. Ploughed on well and stayed clean, bar one hesitation all the way through to the finish, managing to stretch the legs nicely when it was allowed.
Slightly embarrassing moment was tripping up going both in and out of a control right next to Grace. Highly unprofessional stuff but at least it shows I was trying hard.
Overall, solid run, just needed to iron out the rough edges. Looking forward to tomorrow.

2 courses at west cam with James. I had planned it last night so was obviously not fully surprised by everything but managed to forget quite a lot. Decent first course then really enjoyed the pinball on the second one - loads of barriers and had to keep the head. Some dubious mapping meant James rightfully snuck ahead of me at the very last - furious.

Early morning miles. Faffing at the start waiting for Henry cos he was going rogue but soon bumped into him at churchill and then met up with Ewan for a lap of girton. Fresh post-rain atmosphere, nice chat. Lovely. Exams finished now, hurray.

Knew the session was going to be a real silly one in terms of speed so did this 3k tempo to kick off. Not marvellous in any way but a good leg loosened to kick things off.

6x300 with a rest that is genuinely too mortifying to write down here.
Only option was flat out speed and this was wholeheartedly endorsed by all members of the group. Fully dropped off the back doing a 43.4 on the first rep which was mildly hilarious. Sped up slightly for the rest, which we’re all under 43. Toughest thing was actually just getting the legs turning that fast - I am not used to that.
Absolute highlight was executing an up the inside overtake on Louise on rep 5. Been in my sights for a long time and I can now retire from track running, having cemented my status as the Irish female record holder for 800m. Happy days.
Was getting roasted for my choice of shoes - some clearly uneducated people on the loose.

Grey morning so teed up a moderately interesting podcast and set off round the sodden fields of Grantchester. Legs felt heavy at the start but cleared up as we went.
