National Middle at Braunton Burrows - 1st
Was rather surprised with this result if I'm honest! I made an absolute stinker of a 90 degree path error off the start which was highly embarassing but fortunately easily recoverable. Then I had some minor faffage in the next few vague ones before messing up the initial part of the leg crossing the fence - not really sure how that happened.
Then it started hailing so hard that it was rather painful and I couldn't really see anything for the next few mins. To be fair this was kinda cool. Ploughed on and finished strong bar some minor misses.
Overall, a great weekend of good fun racing, even if the weather wasn't exactly wonderful!

British Long at Braunton Burrows - 1st
Very pleased with this. Knew it was going to be a case of finding lots and lots of controls so was ready to concentrate and get grinding in the pouring rain.
All clean through the first section and beyond, managing to get the head up as much as possible. Made a small miss at #11 where I was just too far along the spur but quickly relocated. Then made my biggest mistake at #16 where I didn’t take the right path and then faffed around a bit.
In general during the final section I was finding it kinda difficult to keep up such high concentration levels as dunes orienteering with lots of paths just requires constant checking of where you’re going.
Anyway, kept the head for the last loop and tractored home to take a very satisfying win. Certainly the nav was nearly all there and the pace was good throughout. Big thumbs up, worth the bloody long drive!
