This really has been a hefty month with ~55 hours of training :)

Woof. Big one. Had planned this for a while so was really looking forward to it.
Set off at 8:30 which is like 4:30 in the morning to me at the moment but paid off for lighter winds at the start. Headed out on deserted roads to Caldercruix with a light tailwind.
Turned into a very light wind through Armadale and Bathgate before the disgusting climb over to dechmont. Through to kirknewton and into a much busier than previously Edinburgh. Poor woman driving behind me got peeped by some man for not overtaking me soon enough which was harsh.
Was thinking when I was cycling through bruntsfield that the 20mph makes cycling a lot safer if u can cycle at the speed of cars and don’t have to go in the bus lane. But then a lot of cyclists can’t, so there you go. The great debate.
Stopped at wester Coates to try and see my friend but she was being a bit of a muppet and not replying so I left and she only saw my message when I got home and begged me to come back - bit late for that pal.
Down to cramond and then made good progress with a now decent tailwind through kirkliston and winchburgh. Some cheeky bugger sat on my arse tailing me for quite a while without doing a shift. Made it home feeling not too bad at all actually and sank 2 cups of water and heavenly choccie milk (nesquik powder - would recommend).
All in all a good days work - really enjoyed it.
Then I went for a 12km walk with my friend which means that now I feel a tad shattered. May go for a run tomorrow. We’ll see.

Extended warm up down avon and through a new way to the leisure centre which was nice

Running intervals!!! For the first time in seven weeks.
Went in nice and easy with 5x3(2) around an all-grass leisure centre loop. Made sure not to overdo it and to work hard but comfortable. Paces were pretty decent but had pretty much zero in the way of top end speed which is not at all surprising - 80k bike rides don’t help that lol. Absolutely roasting as well, felt like I was abroad or something.
Overall really positive and very pleased. No feeling in shin at all. Happy days.

A new route - usual lap of the golf course then ran the full 18 holes. Really nice and hilly and the surface was obviously great. From a runners' perspective this would make for an epic XC race route, although not sure what the groundsman would say about that.

Long one into Edinburgh for a lap of the seat before back out past mes to avoid the cycle path. Saw the anti lockdown protest which is hilariously pathetic. Was going into a hefty headwind all the way home but kept pushing on even if I was flagging a bit. Got peeped at again for literally no reason by a car overtaking me when I was on the left of the road. Maybe he was angry at me for not doing 60 in a 60, I will try harder next time.

Got peeped in Linlithgow for the heinous crime of moving a metre to the right on a two lane road to avoid a pothole, from a car behind even though I was going the speed limit. Nice lol

Bit of a faster ride out against a strong wind to Limerigg and then rapid back downhill to Linlithgow. Tried to chase down a guy for about 3k coming into Linlithgow but he was just a bit too quick for me and held his distance. Then we got to a set of traffic lights and he was there doing the balancing whilst stationary on a slope so I realised I had picked an opponent far too worthy of my competition.

Beecraigs with grace. Shin felt really good actually which was positive. Heart rate went to pot after about 10 minutes and just stayed on 190 for the whole run which earned me a 4 day recovery. Is that a record?
Grace also challenged me to an impromptu race at the end which I absolutely smoked her at which is embarassing for her considering I haven’t done ints in 6 weeks.

Big one. Realised before I set off that one of rear wheel spokes had snapped and that the metal connector was now free inside the tyre. At some point that would eventually burst the tube so swapped dads rear wheel onto it. As a result quite a few gears were slipping but knew which ones to not use and adapted.
Anyway. Set off and took me 8.3k to realise I was in my small cog at the front all the time. After that was all good. Headed out to caldercruix then got a great tailwind to Bathgate. Then over to Kirknewton for a Kit Kat and back via Kirkliston. Feeling pretty whacked by the end especially with a headwind home.
Obliterated a choccie milk on finishing. Happy days.
