4 PM

Running 48:00 [3] 10.5 km (4:34 / km)

Garmin died so this is a mapometer and analogue timing estimate. Went on a nice wee explore from school down the water of Leith and back again. Can safely say I went to part of Edinburgh I've never visited

Cross Training (Swimming) 1:00:00 [3]

Sunday Oct 28, 2018 #

Running 16:04 [3] 2.92 km (5:30 / km)

Combined WU/WD with Louis.

Orienteering race 38:10 [3] 7.63 km (5:00 / km)

SOL @Roseisle. Blue.
1st.
Really enjoyed this. Sweet forest, made sure I played it safe in the light green areas and pushed on on the paths. Technical in parts but a lot of dead running also.
Didn’t really make any mistakes, just a few max 30second misses in the circle. Pleased to take a win, gutted about inter areas... :(

Saturday Oct 27, 2018 #

1 PM

Running warm up/down 32:59 [3] 6.23 km (5:18 / km)

WU/WD with MacMillan and others

Orienteering race 20:02 [3] 3.96 km (5:04 / km)

Inter area relays 3rd leg. Team came 1st.
Set off with Louis and also Duncan Robertson, which was extremely unexpected lol. All glued together with me leading till #14 (the first gaffled control) then split up. Kept the lead to the finish bringing it home for the west lads.

Cross Training (MTB) 2:00:00 [3]

27km with Grandpa.
Foul weather to begin with so bailed on first plan and started in glen tanar.
Basically grandpas got a new electric bike, which meant I spent this whole bike ride going through the utterly humiliating experience of getting dropped by a 77 year old on any ascent (and there were plenty).
Still, I convinced him to let me have a shot and honestly those things are awesome! Get it on high assist mode and half a pedal stroke gets you to mainland Europe!

Thursday Oct 25, 2018 #

10 AM

Running 1:48:51 [3] 21.5 km (5:04 / km)

Woof- Easy long with Torq. Along the pass, back into town before a big loop round the Dee and forest then home.
Felt good, nice pace and a satisfying distance as well. No stops or snacks
5 PM

4 PM

Running 36:59 [3] 7.81 km (4:44 / km)

A very windy recovery from craigendarroch round the pass into Ballater and then back along the river. Went past the rest night field.....
Up here for the week so we’ll see what’s cooking

Sunday Oct 21, 2018 #

1 PM

Running warm up/down 19:50 [3] 3.51 km (5:39 / km)

Combined WU/ part WD part search. All good in the end. Even if I couldn’t find no. 7 on the orange course

Orienteering race 30:34 [3] 5.77 km (5:18 / km)

CompassSport Cup M18-
Green 4.7km
1st.

Honestly surprised with this result but pleased nonetheless.
Absolute shagged my knee about 50m in which was fun then saw my good friend Johnson at #1. Way off line to #3 before a lot of general faffing elsewhere.
Just a case of pathing it, avoiding the deadly bracken, which is always a bit of a shame. Main time losses where in the circle just trying to actual kite, which proved difficult.
Tried my best on the run in but I’m a potato when it comes to sprinting so yeah.... maybe next time

11 AM

Running 1:12:27 [3] 14.03 km (5:10 / km)

Was gonna go round Linlithgow but was such a nice day so headed up the Cockleroy north face and the rest was history.
Also, went to see Hamilton in London on Monday and it was literally the best thing ever- just as a quick hint....

Monday Oct 15, 2018 #

9 AM

Running 1:12:33 [3] 17.11 km (4:14 / km)

A weird and wonderful running adventure around central London.
Staying in a pad and a half (from a friend) in Marlybone. Down Hyde park to Buckingham Palace. Along the mall, to Trafalgar Square then down to the Thames.
A very wiggly route along the Thames to Tower Bridge before heading back along the south side, which was a bit easier.
Over Westminster bridge, past Westminster then along birdcage walk back to the Palace.
Managed to coincide this with changing of the guard, which was fun and very quintessential. Also about an hour before it was announced that Meghans got one on the way so really a very royal run. Headed home after this.
My flat and not lost pace was about 4:00s but had to stop and slow down a lot! Great run but the pollution is real!

Sunday Oct 14, 2018 #

Note

To London

Saturday Oct 13, 2018 #

2 PM

Running 1:42:44 [3] 19.21 km (5:21 / km)

To muiravonside via the gorge, some time killing loops and then a control collecting loop after a very soggy event before back home again.
Turns out carrying 11 controls is quite hard.
Also got ambushed by a nice and hyper efficient lady to do a sustrans survey about cycle paths about 500m from home. Yep, what a mental day- one to tell the grandkids

Friday Oct 12, 2018 #

5 AM

Running 34:41 [3] 7.25 km (4:47 / km)

Basically decided that trying to train when I get home (at 6) is a futile cause so did this as a trial run for before school training.
Bit dark and lonely but good training and will defo try and set this as a regular in the winter.

Running race 10:45 [3] 3.19 km (3:22 / km)

XC at Inverleith.
Packed it with Andrew and the two other regulars for the first lap and a half before splitting- held onto 2nd.
Insanely hot for October- like 21 degrees wtf - still not complaining tho perfect weather

Sunday Oct 7, 2018 #

9 AM

Running warm up/down 13:00 [3] 2.2 km (5:55 / km)

WU/WD with Louis

Orienteering race 26:11 [3] 4.54 km (5:46 / km)

JHIs Relays @ Bonskeid.
Looking forward to this after last week, however went and absolute torpedoed no.1, punching it in pretty much last. From this point it was a case of oxygen debt fuelled catch-up to the leaders. Caught Flurry at 5, had nearly made contact with Matt and Louis at 8 before I was dragged up the hill on a much longer gaffle.
Caught and overtook Jim and Joe after this and then occupied a tense no mans land of third place for the rest of the race.
Very scary navigating alone through a dark green plantation, being able to hear but not see the chasers.
Still, delivered the 1,2,3 once again, if not a bit further behind. Great runs from the team take 1,2,4 in the boys with Scotland taking the overall W- yassss lad!

Saturday Oct 6, 2018 #

12 PM

Running warm up/down 21:57 [3] 3.71 km (5:55 / km)

WU/WD with Felix and Louis

Orienteering race 43:14 [3] 6.33 km (6:50 / km)

JHIs individual M16 5.6km @ Errochty.
Came 4th. Pretty decent race overall- good nav on the whole but feel like I have more to give on the hills. A bit of scrapping around in the technical section at the end.
Biggest mistake was the finish, where I lost +30seconds and a podium place (but at least it was to fellow Scot Louis). I understand you don’t have to tape a run in, but it just seems so unnecessary not to- what is gained from not? I know I wasn’t the only one who just switched into the run to the finish mindset. Highly annoying but also amusing as well. Anyway, rant over

Thursday Oct 4, 2018 #

3 PM

Running 47:14 [3] 10.01 km (4:43 / km)

Easy round Dean-Colonies-Goldenacre-Inverleith Park

Wednesday Oct 3, 2018 #

2 PM

Running warm up/down 22:00 [3] 4.0 km (5:30 / km)

Combined WU/WD

Running race 17:10 [3] 5.22 km (3:17 / km)

Scottish Schools Roads @ Falkirk Stadium- 13th.
Really tense and squashed first 500 with a lot of contact going on but survived and slipped nicely into the back of the chasing pack from the lone leader.
Dropped off at about half way but still had some fellow stragglers to fight the wind with.
Got a naughty 5k PB also, about time too. And turns out the winner is current European champion so not surprised no one finished within 200m of him!
