Have no idea how this happened. Wanted to go out and run a 20min 5k, but felt good so thought fuck it and went for it. Amazing stuff and a 1.22 PB from previously 18.52

The area is a bit of a shitehole tbh, so lots of plodding through marshes and bashing round paths. Navigationally ok, just a few wee silly errors. Taking it at a reasonable pace.

Was hoping to go about 2.00 for each but was actually well under this hitting about 1.55s so pretty good speed.
Pretty uneventful and very rainy, apart from a guy telling me he didn't do running cos it was bad for you and an 8yo girl nearly drenching me whilst spraying her dad's car.

Was absolutely flying through the first k (4.55) as the terrain was lovely and the nav was reasonably easy. Felt good with the terrain getting progressively grottier as the course went on. Binned a few 5 or 10 secs here or there, but only 1 big mistake (1min) where I was in a vague area and the feature I was standing on was obscured on the map by the red circle. Lovely weather with me running alone pretty much the whole time cos I was first start

Paced it to 1. Third again could have took the win if I hadn't overshot. Wee bit of form line/crag confusion at 2 and then solid round the rest. Had a major tow from Will for most of it, but did actually know where I was the whole time

Guesses as my garmin decided to cut out half way round- quite annoying. Good fast trains with Ali for a bit. Forest was good

So it seems that Fred Jbone and the rest of heriots have finally succumbed to Stew Mel- only us there. Took it easy as a pack with everyone only sprinting for the last 250. Felt good despite running considerably faster than my 5k PB
