Running intervals 18:33 [3] 4.13 km (4:29 / km)

Wanted a shorter quality session before Scottish schools XC on sat and then selections. Did 5x 800m with 1:30 stationary rest.
Felt great on this and really pushed the pace on the reps- focussed on good form and continuing to push right through the whole rep.
Splits were - 2.40,2.30,2.30,2.26,2.24

‘Cross country’ at the promenade. 2x 500 out and back- fascinating. Set off hard in 2:58 for first K and just held distance behind Andrew for the most part in a solid second

SOL @ Birsemore Hill- Brown.
Messed up #1 cos that of boulders and knolls everywhere. Wrong side of the hill to #3 after a very hesitant leg and an overshoot to #4 having joined the dad train.
After that was pretty good, decent compass and picking out features well at a decent pace. Safe through the technical section at the end which was good before I got binned on the home stretch by Fred and his taunting. Solid week

British Nights @ Muir of Dinnet. 4th.
Toughest race I’ve ever done- brutal physical and nav just made this very long. Only really made one big mistake but was being insanely conservative in how I orienteered, taking absolutely no risks. Was fun tho

Down the leith then on a new cycle path where I ended up taking a bridge to nowhere then having to jump off said bridge onto the bank to get down to the path below, before ending up on the sea front. Yup. Epic.
Did 5x (30 sprint 30 jog) as well but my exploring was interesting enough.
81k in the last week- taking a rest tomorrow before t’ weekend

Sprint @ North Muirton. Took it hard and was clean apart from being caught out like everyone else at #1. Got Todge by a second so the battle continues.....

2nd/3rd leg Relay sim @ Kinnoull
Set off with flurry Matt and dan with the very scary prospect of a bloodthirsty Todge behind me. Left flurry after #3 when he went the wrong way and was pretty lonely round the loop till going to #12 when I saw the train piling towards me. Caught by Pete and stuck with him till on the way to #16 when he burned me off in a rather easylooking matter.
Great fun really enjoyed it such a class area- lightning quick

Pleased with nav again just was quite rough so sometimes struggled to get decent speed through the terrain. Some tiny misses mainly not being able to see the wee kites.

Mass start. Was leading till after #5 when I jumped a leg but quickly back on the pack and took the lead again at #7 and just about managed to evade the clutches of Louis, Megan and a rather cross dog

Scrappy mixed exercise on inshriach. Garmin messed up so this is an estimate

Much much better long legs exercise. Basically one monster leg that I spiked, just went a variation on straight picking the best features and lines- pleasing

Brutal downhill course from the top of Craigellachie. Very tough terrain but was basically clean apart from too high on one crag and a poor bearing in the forest at one point

Not gonna lie was a highly enjoyable experience- spiked 15/16 controls and flowing well with good bearings. Saw lots of deer.

Had the les mis soundtrack on- mad how I can remember most of it from doing it 6 years ago but I can't remember most of Nat 5 Physics. Valjean nailed the top C

Run round the seat and killing fields with Iain. Super windy round the top so went pretty slow, compounded by iain not being at his fittest for running, having stopped in summer

20 mins continuous hills on Cockleroy- sprint up walk down. Got further than last time which is pleasing, couldn't have done it without the tunes- driving wind and rain trying their best to stop me. Nicht heute, pas aujour'dhui.

Steady from school down the leith to Victoria Park in trinity then back on the cycle path. Didn’t get shanked which is good.
Felt rubbish to begin but much better at the end- weird. My garmin virtual pacer is a dirty liar, although what can you expect from something that should be on display at the National museum.

Don’t know how many zombies I had to dodge today. Doesn’t just endanger other pedestrians and vehicles but themselves as well. Like put your phone away and wake up to the world around you. FVO group run round Polmaise and Sauchie Crags. Beaut day and really nice snow cover as well, did that for like 8.5 then tagged on a 4.5k tempo at 3:45s just to get the blood flowing a wee bit round the town
