My assignment was to do six miles at a comfortable pace. This was very comfortable (read: slow). Perfect weather. Unfortunately, it won't be long before running at 2pm at Hidden Mesa will mean borderline heatstroke... :-P

Orange course at Fox Run, after helping with set-up and registration. Several dumb mistakes. Ugh.

- Jogged 1.1 miles to warm up.

- "Surge" workout, two sets of: 1/4 mile @ 5K race pace, 1/2 mile @ mile pace, 1/4 mile @ 5K race pace, 0.1 mile recovery walk / jog back around to the start of the loop.

   My paces were 9:58 / 8:51 / 9:12 and 9:51 / 9:02 / 9:27. We were supposed to only have ~20 seconds of difference between our paces. I should have gone faster on the first quarter-mile in each set.

- Jogged 0.75 miles to cool down.

- Jogged about a half-mile of the one-mile warm-up, since I was late...

- Three-mile tempo run. Goal was to stay at 10k race pace (which, for me, is 10:00). My splits were 9:50, 9:30 and 9:40. Yay!

- I did a longer cool-down at an easy pace, to get in some extra distance.

- Then I went to Whole Foods and bought everything in sight.
