Run / Hike 3:00:00 [3] 8.0 mi (22:30 / mi) +2852ft 16:49 / mi
slept:8.0 weight:118.9lbs shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2021-2)

Too hot to run today (~100 degrees), so I decided on a steep-ish hike in Boulder: Shadow Canyon up to the saddle between Bear Peak and South Boulder Peak. (I wanted to go to the top of South Boulder Peak but I had gotten a late start, I hadn't seen any other people in quite a while, and I didn't want to get caught out after dark or otherwise tempt fate...)

Garmin says 4:45 elapsed time, 4:08 total time, and 2:22 of moving time — but I stopped my watch for each of my breaks. I'll guesstimate three hours for this outing.

Orienteering 2:06:35 [3] 5.35 mi (23:40 / mi) +550ft 21:34 / mi
shoes: Salomon Speedcross (2022-Wide)

Training course at Granite Planite / Pelican Bay.

This might be one of my most perfect runs ever on a fairly technical course (but I'm using the term "run" loosely...).

Until I blew it at 20. DOH!

I was back to wearing my prescription glasses today, and that helped. Lesson learned...

Such a fun weekend. :-)

Orienteering 2:41:42 [3] 6.5 mi (24:53 / mi) +612ft 22:50 / mi
slept:7.0 shoes: Salomon Speedcross (2022-Wide)

Training course at Remarkable Flats.

It was a bad idea to wear my sunglasses instead of my prescription glasses, given the 1:12,500 scale and the rock detail around #1 & #2. It took me 28 minutes to find #1. :-\

After that, I had some inefficient blunders at 5, 12 & 20 (and I skipped from 13 to 17, since I was afraid I'd run out of time before control pickup started).

A fun course and a nice day, though. And I saw an antelope on my way to 17!

slept:8.0 shoes: Salomon Speedcross (2022-Wide)

Orienteering at West Pelican Bay.

A few mistakes, but nothing disastrous. Very fun!

Run / Hike 40:00 [3] 2.0 mi (20:00 / mi)

Window shopping in downtown Laramie.

Friday Jul 1, 2022 #

Run / Hike 15:00 [3] 0.9 mi (16:40 / mi)

Walked to & from dinner.

Run / Hike 53:54 [3] 4.63 mi (11:39 / mi)
slept:7.0 weight:121.9lbs shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2021-2)

LOLA Runners workout.

I was worried about how I'd feel about a 5:45 am wakeup call and track workout after having two margaritas last night at dinner... :-| But I didn't feel too terrible.

- Ran two laps to warm up.
- 4 x 400, 2 x 800, 4 x 400
- Walked & ran two laps to cool down.

I had hoped to have all of this week's homework finished before driving to Laramie, but that hasn't happened (in fact, I haven't even started...). But other than homework, I'm really, REALLY looking forward to a few days of no obligations, no meetings, no real schedule to keep (I may or may not show up for the mass starts), etc.
