Orienteering race 2:32:23 [4] 13.4 km (11:22 / km) +470m 9:41 / km

Billygoat! First time for me. Very much fun, at Pound Ridge, same map as used at US Nationals last September. 13.3km, 470 climb, my GPS (Suunto Spartan Ultra) clocked 17.5km and 568m climb, however, it got lost between 1 and 2 and thought I was 2km to the west, didn't correct again until 7. Really weird, I think it happened when I fell and rolled over on a slope coming down from 1. Odd the GPS should get that confused. Probably actaually ran about 15.5km.

Good race overall, finished 44 out of around 85. Couple of minor mistakes, a few minutes lost due to poor route choice to #8 (went west around the hill for reasons I can't really explain!), maybe 30 seconds to #11 by going a little too far on the path to the left. Chose to skip #14 which I am sure was the right choice for me. Easy trail running most of the distance from 13 to 14. Some skipped #10 instead, which made 9 to 11 very fast, however overall climb was more than 50 meters more than my route choice which is primary considerations for me! Though in hindsight skipping #1 might have been the best choice. I thought about it coming out of the start but decided to just follow the crowd.
Got a little to far to the right on #21, lost 30-45 seconds.

Legs pretty much gave out on the climb to #20, so I chose the right fork to 22 which added 400m distance but I couldn't face the climb out of 21. In hindsight I realized there was just as much climb going around, just not as steep, but I was so tired I didn't read the contours carefully enough. Going straight would have been faster by several minutes for me.

Great community spirit and well organized. Really enjoyed it.

Treadmill 27:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:24 / km)

Treadmill 5km, took it somewhat easy due to right knee hurting since Minnesota. Hopefully just due to my falling on it, and no internal trouble. Pain goes away when I run (so should be OK for Billygoat).
