First time I can actually remember being excited to do a long race. Maybe because I knew it wasnt actually that long and I felt like It was just two middles. Which I ended up treating it as.
The first control was interesting. I climbed way too high and ended up on the knoll. I approached the control pretty well from here and then gained my conifidence in the map and decided it was time to run as if it was a middle distance. I concentrated pretty well and ran faster than normal till I got to 8. Had stop and drink here and decided to start the next middle distance bit.
I ran a bit high to 9 and had to come down the gully for it.
Fell over going to 11.
After 11 I looked at my watch and saw I had been out for 60mins and decided I owuld try and get to the finish in under 10min k's. So I sped up again. Faffed about on the track for some reason . Spiked 12, stuffed up 13 (Kerrin scared me because he was swearing lots here) And then sprinted to the finish.
Made it to the finish with 2 seconds to spare to make it under 10min k's.

Surprised that I felt a lot fitter. Surprised that I focused so well in a long. Taking out the mistakes I made, I think I would have only done 63mins which is still 8 mins off Hanny.

longish warm up for this race. Was feeling pretty chipper today after the long car trip.

Not a good run really. Panicked at the start and ran the wrong way to control 1. Down the wrong track. Ended up back at the dam and blindly ran up a gully, had to turn around to find my control. That wasted a good 2mins.

2 was fine. 3, i thought i planned it well but completely missed the fact that the boulder was on a spur and ran to far up the creek.
Stopped and calmed down and decided to read my map a bit better.
I took out of the way route choices then and they worked to my advantage.
Saw the splits and realisedI was coming 4th by 9. Stuffed around at 10 and 12 and 13 pretty badly.
lack of concentration and not being able to read the map so well.

Frustrating and feel I should have done 40mins.

Did a sprint map memory training as a warm up around uni. Then we did the normal line course.

Nice run at morialta. Did a little warm up to start with and that helped me limber up.
