Running warm up/down 7:00 [3] 0.78 km (8:59 / km)

Lots to report today, I visited the GP and began the process for knee replacement surgery.

Doctor prescribed cephalexin for one week for infection on my chest which I assume is a bite from an insect...that is not a tick.

Before orienteering, I noticed poison ivy rash beginning on top of left calf which corresponds with tear in wind pants. That means the droplets took seven days to begin a reaction.

orienteering race 1:01:24 [3] *** 5.2 km (11:49 / km) +10m 11:42 / km
17c shoes: MT610CG4

with handicap 65.0% 42/68

I got 17 but I needed 26 (of 28). I was comfortable with 1:7500 map, comfortable with route choices, comfortable with terrain (except descent to control #34) but so unhappy with speed. Even so, my speed is the same as last week; two very familiar maps.

32, 44, 36, 53, 43, 54, 57, 42, 49, 40, 35, 31, 33, 45, 50, 48 and 34

I am looking forward to route gadget for this outing.

Compass bearing worked from 33 to 45. Bearing missed slightly from 45 to 48 but I was going to go for 50 anyway.

Yes, that was all running. Intending to negative split, I attempted to increase pace at 45mn but I had no chance of even sustaining that 8:40/k pace. I replicated race conditions: humidex 33 and race cothes (except socks and camelbak). Socks may have been more important than I expected. Front left foot was very unhappy last couple miles. It may simply be swelling as I had to loosen laces on left shoe 50 min in.
