Big Foot Orienteering Club hosted a sprint event at the Wildflower Gardens in St Ives, Sydney. It is the first time for me to run this course. The course covers a mix of road and trails and there is also the opportunity for off track navigation. There was a section with olive green that caught many who ended up DNF and also a few mispunches. I had a mostly clean run and it was difficult to work out if the longer trail sections would be faster than the off trail sections because of the amount of fallen debree in the open forest slowing progress. My major losses were at controls 5 and 6 getting caught in slow scrub and backtracking to use the longer paved route. Temperatures were high... 35c at the start at 9am and it was nice to be finished with the run. Our orienteering team headed to the beach soon after to recouperate. A nice day out orienteering!

Sydney summer series - Vaucluse

45 minute score-o event through an urban street type course. Course was set on a fast 1:7500 map. I forgot a time piece and just ran the event trying to judge the time. Ended up returning 8-9 minutes early with a score of 480 over 600 possible points. Was a fun event regardless.

Road Running 40:16 [3] * 7.82 km (5:09 / km) +55m 4:58 / km
ahr:141 max:156 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS-15

An early morning easy run through Centennial Park. Loads of club cyclists about forming pacelines. I used to run this route as a student and noticed that the new bicycles (composite frames with fancy wheels) make a totally different noise as they whirl by. The circuit was flat as a tack (i.e. boring) so made a deviation up to Oxford Street and back for some hill work (all 55 meters!) lol.
