rehab run. All tarmac apart from around 500m at the river. meant to be 20mind but didn’t get the timings quite right and wasn’t away to run back down luke’s drive to make up the distance. Knee felt a bit stiff/ achy at the start fro around 2 minutes but didn’t feel it at all all the way down the hill. Slightly stiff again at the river but fine on the way back up the hill. By far the most decent/incline so far, happy with how my knee felt. No stiffness or pain afterwards. Other knee fine from snowboarding.
Snowboarding at glen shee all day, hit some ice and hit my right (good) knee, nothing major but meant to do night o at potarch tonight but going to give it a miss so it doesn’t turn into anything more :( Would rather go for a chippy and stonehaven anyway

Glen Quoich loop with luke - first proper shot on the new mtb! Thought id write a big bit about this because im bored and it was such a good day out :) Started at the punch bowl car park and headed up the land rover track all the way up glen quoich. Luke managed to get flung over his handle bars within the first 20 minutes coming down the steep hill with that horrible new chucky surfacing. Landed in the soft heather so no harm done. Got to the first of many river crossing, but this was by far the biggest - very lucky as if we had been a day or two earlier everything was in spate and wouldnt of been able to get across! Somehow got persuaded to go first without any idea of how deep some of the bits were, chuffed to have stayed on until the very last bit after the rocky island. Turned east along quoich water in between Carn na Drochaide and Beinn A Bhuird - finally on the single track we came for! stunning views north of beinn a bhuird and surrounded by caledonian pines. Managed alright with the technical stuff apart from the thick muddy bogs that were in every dip, in summer this route would be even better. Stopped to have our tea and snacks just before the valley split, saw a man on his bike with a huge bag on his back heading up from the slugain carrying on up the valley, must of been going on a hefty adventure! Luke showed off his danny Macaskill skills on the big boulders a the top of the slugain...lol. The track down the slugain was so much fun, had never been here before, quite different to anywhere else in deeside with the big outcrops and scree. Luke enjoyed the proper bits of mountain biking whilst i was shitting myself coming round the steep scree corners. All the way down towards inver, more river crossing to make our feet even colder. Back to the car on the track alongside the dee, cold and wanting our cafe lunch by this point! Overall a grand day out with the best company

Cairn o mount with luke. Bit of a shitter. Usually I love this cycle and even though its tough it never feels disgusting, but felt like I was in the red the whole way. Didn't feel unfit as such, just weak - felt like I had no leg strength, just wanted to get off and sit at the side a couple times lol. The climbs out on the moor to the top have never felt so tough, usually once I'm out the forest it feels like your basically done but not today. Definetly think this is due to not doing much leg stuff in the gym (weighted squats etc), and just probably not noticed the difference in Edinburgh since i haven't done any properly hilly cycling recently. Tried to get a month membership at the gym like i did last year but they said they're not letting any students in over christmas which is a bit of a pain, hopefully can get something sorted otherwise its the cold garage for me.

Plan today was to do cairn o mount with luke but it was 2 degrees so could imagine ourselves getting way too cold on the descent and probably crashing on the ice. Plan B it was - just a classic glen dye and toms cairn route. Felt like crap, bonking from the get-go due to not enough breakfast and I think just overall tiredness, so stopped in at the farm shop for a coffee and cake which soon sorted that out. Got my clothing just right I think, never got cold and dads seal skin socks were a lifesaver. Also a good life hack - put warm tea in your water bottle.

Disgusting weather frankly. Hailstones so heavy was worried about my frame chipping lol. Just wanted to get out after the last few days of literally not moving doing all my assignments. A little hill sprint up Willowbrae Av and then two slippy seat laps. got too cold to carry on

Didn’t want to be out in the dark so just a short & sweet one to go do some hill sprints on lillyhill terrace and some of the other climbs over there. Finished with a sunset seat lap with emma, nice to see her and have a wee catch up
