Recovery with luke after he begged me to let him join. Up through hamlyns plantation to Bridgend then across the road back through trustach. Legs took some warming up but generally in good nick

Bit all over the place on this one. 1 was a disaster. Think it started with not being disciplined to come off the path earlier and then did a parallel but a linear parallel (?) Basically got my distance all wrong and ran literally right by the control to the next line of crags which I then went searching for the control on the other side of, no clue why but must of been getting desperate, so had to climb all the way over but knew exactly what id done by then. Lost over 3 mins here lol good start. Rest of the controls in the green stayed super focused for to make sure i nailed them. Think 50% of my hair got ripped out in here. To 6 got to the small bit of wall under the pink line okay but then just didnt have a plan and was running way to fast without knowing exactly where i was, v stupid as i knew this could be a danger leg so it was a miracle when i thought i was at the platform and was away to keep going along the slope when i looked up to my right and the control was there. After this i just got scrappy and kept making mistakes in the circle. Thought 7 was on some crags not a rocky pit. Lost a minute at 9 as did a big banana and didn't see that the conrol was after the veg boundary so wasn't going high enough. Think i might need an eye test.
Yes not happy with my run so feel lucky with the good result. So long graythwaite

Started off completely not in control, somehow forgot that i was allowed to cross a double tick fence as this was in fact not a sprint race so lost around 30s here. Whole way to 2 just stressing about the long leg but somehow got there with no problems. Decided to do what deesiders do best and just go straight on the first section through the green along the veg boundry, which was grotty but not as grotty as the striped open. After the rides in the open i carried along the wall and the fence but probably should of cut straight through the LG to get onto the path sooner as green wasn't too bad, but didn't know that then obvs. Nice entry into 3. 7 felt very hesitant as I thought id gone too low but was okay, crappy exit through the brambles too. 10 was mucking about on some unmapped crags on the edge of the control circle but realised I was still in the green when I was meant to be in the open. Rushing too much as nearing the end. Binned 2 mins here. Rest was fine but again felt pretty out of control on 13, was just running towards kat in the distance who then disappeared so wasn't sure if i was on the first or second spur.
A lot of walking where i would of liked to be running but hey ho, overall pleased with my nav on such a technical area in terrain that im not used to, a bit mentally drained by the end as i felt i was constantly on the map.

A good race and pleased results wise. Felt fairly confident going into this with the geeking I'd done for once, and when I saw the part of the area we were using in the start lane knew I would be fairly prepared for the route choices. To 3 thought it was a 50/50 so went left to keep running through 2 but now looking at it I think right it obviously faster, felt slow getting up the craggy slope. Very much enjoyed the forest section, held it together and after my disaster in the forest leg at my braemar sprint knew to dial back the pace and adjust to the scale. Ok to 4 but faffed getting through the gates so maybe going back to the streets and taking the 2nd crossing was quicker. To 7, didn't cut to the path early enough so changed plan to go all the way round on the path, no time lost I think and probably a safer entry. Knew the way to 8 so could flip the map and get to looking ahead at the wee control pick. Lost 15s at 9, didn't see the flag tucked in the corner and a car was in the way, description said wall end so hesitated a bit.
Positives to take but need to focus more on speed, felt I could have pushed harder as didn't feel too gassed at the end, but legs might of got a midway rest in the forest?

Long run from home. Been running everywhere but home recently so this was nice, weird doing a long run not up a hill though. Very ploddy and chill, feeling fine

All over the place today, no real route planned. With kirst till drumshalloch, then through the crathes gates, crathes bridge, south deeside for a bit then turned left through the wiggly woods road and re joined the slug road then up to rhindbuckie and tilquhillie and home. Pouring rain for 90% of the ride

Mt shade & clachnaben. Up and round the back of graystone hill first to get to the trail/river up the the south side of mt shade, then down and up to clachnaben and back the main trail. Saw Calum Kitching and Kit at the top climbing so was nice to stop for a wee catch up with them

Crathes orienteering, 2016 green course that I had run before but no recollection of it. Keeping an easy relaxed pace, focusing on picture and really paying attention to ticking features off and looking up. Took some routes that weren't optimal/ the fastest to get more nav in. Really enjoyed this, legs felt surprisingly good after yesterdays track session and was orienteering the best I have for a while. Just had my running shorts on which always makes me feel faster in the forest, good idea apart from the nettle jungle between the last control and finish. Big bit of clear felling in the north by the bog which is a shame, don't know how old or new it is but made me sad as it was a really nice bit.

5x800 (1min) on the grass track. Times slower than last week, mix of being on grass and not pushing myself as hard. 3:04, 3:16, 3:18, 3:22, 3:15. Kirst, luke, john and joe were also at the track and apart from Kirsty running one lap with me and joe completing 2 reps of his planned session, they did nothing but distract me with their cartwheels and flips into the sandpit.

Glas Maol with L & K. Basically walked the whole way up to the small summit before Creag Leacach, and then it was just a nice run/scramble along the ridge to Glas Maol. North west off the summit to Meall odh'ar and the ski lifts then down the big spur by devils elbow back to the car. 2 new munros to add to the list.

Got back from glasgow much later than planned and didn’t want to go night orienteering, so just went toms cairn with luke. Up and down to the cairn and a bit across the road. Was almost pitch black so we missed a junction and ended up coming out quite far down the main road so was a slog back up the road to the monument. Feeling great, no niggles for once.

lovely morning spin before going to kirsty’s flat in glasgow. Feel i strained my hammy a wee bit doing cossack squats (yuck) yesterday so didn’t want to run. Hammy feeling bit better this evening

Plan was to do cairn o but changed my mind at the AA box. Legs weren’t feeling good enough. Along to finzean and tried hard to get the QOM up to the monument. Down and up to the ballogie junction, to potarch and then up and over shooting greens, got a PR on that as well so quite pleased. Back to banchory and up to home farm on the way home just to make up the distance.

Bellwood O, good for the first 3 controls and then kind of lost it from then on. Head wasn't in the right place and just couldn't concentrate. Was thinking I knew the woods better than I actually did so just not being strict enough with my nav and ticking off features.

Evening Munro action, Mt Keen from the wooden bridge. Nice to do a solo in the hills and just be by myself, knew there weren't any other walkers out either. Clear apart from a hat of clouds at the summit. Bit of a brutal one even if it was just 3k to the summit. Very steep and path is so crappy at the start and the steep final km, but ran the whole way not letting myself power hike, even if it's quicker. Saw two ptarmigan and an arctic hare.
