Duff house tempo -Stupidly forgot to bring HR monitor to pennan with me so just had to guess, since i haven’t done one of these for a while couldn’t really judge my pace, basically started too quick and died at the turn around at Alva. Picked it up again near the end but felt rough. Could of done without the wee hills

90. Was nervous for this but it went really well. Knees were achy ~3km but stopped and stretched quads and didn’t really notice them after that. Could feel both feet arches on and off but nothing too bad. Got some hills in up temple of venus and dounemount by doing lots of loops otherwise would of been a very flat run. Listening to an old 2019 TRS podcast where kyle was on about the ‘little kid’ that beat him at tom na bat...it was joe

4x3min (90s) hills up the windy head road, overall a very gradual climb with a few steeper sections. Knee has been feeling consistently stronger and pain free so ready to ease back into harder sessions. Didn’t want to go full effort so holding back a bit and keeping it a comfortable pace.

Started with a cyclist vs runner race up out the village, unexpectedly the cyclist won but both of us felt like death at the top, probably not a great idea to do a max effort after a 1 minute wu along the street lol. No climbing legs left for rest of my cycle. Tailwind all the way to fraserburgh which was so much fun along the straights by the sea, cruising along at 45k/h. Have a love hate relationship with cycling up here since there are so many great steep climbs which makes it such good training but the WIND! Decided to head more inland on the way home adding more distance than i had planned to try and avoid the full on headwind but still had a major bonk between strichen and pitsligo and never really recovered. Didn’t bring any snacks and kirsty drank most of my water after our race, definitely one of my more challenging outings.

Mither Tap, green trail from the visitor centre. Just a short run on the way to pennan. First big hill I have done since the issue with my knee at the start of lockdown so was kind of nervous but it went well, no pain around my knee on the descent but was still being more careful. Knee didn't feel particularly strong but overall happy with how it was feeling especially on such a technical descent like this. The climb was brutal and showed me that I have definitely lost a lot of hill strength. Set my self a goal that I would run the whole way which I did so can take that as a minny win, even if Kirstys walking was clearly much faster. Quads and hammies were burning so much which I wouldn't usually get but weaker calves at the moment probably meant I was compensating.
