EUOC big weekend urban race - Dean Village, women’s open. 6th overall so very pleased. Great technical course with some very tricky fine detail in Dean village. No issues in the exchange as id chosen a route choice earlier on to go through it to have a bit of a sneak peek before the control pick around it later on. Only nav error was a leg going back into the village and the most direct route was shown to be blocked on the map with a teeny tiny wall so obvs chose a different route but turns out that wall didn’t exist. Got to see some really cool bits of Edinburgh and overall thoroughly enjoyed it.

WU & WD (to and from killing fields), Fight with the night EUOC big weekend, Long course. Did the first half of the course at race speed to get the brain ready for the big urban tomorrow, slowed the pace down for the second half to conserve energy. Nice run with some tricky route choice on the hill.

Deeside tempo reps, WU,WD - Rhu Na Haven loop. Overall decision was too icy for proper intervals so instead it was 3x tempo speed reps of over a mile (not sure of exact distance) with a recovery jog in between down RNH. Choice of shoes was not optimal.

Surrey uni sprint - new training exercise ‘puzzle O’ with Kirsty (basically a routechoice under pressure exercise). A few of us missed our start times after going to find the building with toilettes in it, not finding toilets but getting locked in the building and ending up having to use the emergency phone to call a very angry security guard to get us out. However, the orienteering went well.

Surrey Bof camp, Winterfold - pairs route choice exercise with Tara. Think we matched our paces pretty well, got to most of the controls at the same time. Path routes came out on top majority of the time due to the bracken. Getting lots of good tips for the jk.

Afternoon session, winterfold again. Map memo with Tara. Some of the legs were quite tricky, very vague sections made map memo pretty tricky. Managed to nav well, apart from last C which was through a pretty vague areas and ended coming off my bearing when crossing a sunken road with steep sides. Obviously I would usually of re taken my bearing but didn’t have a map. Hit a track and came back on line.

Hill of fare from the torphins side - looked like a winter wonderland. Up onto HoF, round the ridge, down the brown hill loop and back home through brathens. Got home at 19km feeling really good and not wanting to go in so decided to pop across the road to make it my first half marathon distance.

Pennan to Aberdour beach - legs felt like jelly from the get go, couldn’t get up any pace even on the flat. Decided to not force it so stuck to taking it as easy as possible. The route was wayyy hillier than I though, the slog up back from the beach was an effort but always good fun running at the coast. Bonus was I avoided packing up and cleaning the house - saw dad on the way back so clearly he was avoiding helping too lol

Snuck away for a wee jog as I noticed none of the fields had cows in them up the hill! Had fun just running through field after field without having to be terrified by the vicious aberdour cows. Saw one field of them so stayed well away but they still all ran along the fence with me so did a quick ue and headed back as it was getting dark.
