Lovely sunny day and excited for this route. Fave road and climb up above crathie, one of the best views of lochnagar i reckon. Stayed chill on the climbs up to the top of gairnshiel, just spinning as i didnt want to push it as havent done a longer ride for a while. Just having a fun time in general all the way down to ballater. Stopped for a snack then got on with the climb to loch muick, was pretty headwindy but just put my head down and got on with it, felt okay still and worth it for the downhill afterwards. Some sketchy overtakes from cars, as expected on this road though.

Cycling 55:36 intensity: (55:12 @1) + (23 @2) + (1 @3) 24.54 km (2:16 / km) +174m 2:11 / km

Saved garmin oops. Saw 3 fellow DRs at loch muick car park! Apparently there were 4 more away to arrive of off the hills. This half was less enjoyable. Felt fine on the downhill back to ballater, a bit grindy on the bumps at the end but didnt think much of it. Got onto the straight bit past the farm and immediately into a fat headwind, felt like shit and nothing left in the tank. Had to stop for my emergency gel cos no way was i getting up Knock hill. Then basically the south deeside road between here and balmoral has never felt so long, crawled my way back into the headwind. Dont know if i got my snacking completely wrong or its just cos i havent done a biggish cycle for a while but yeh not feeling too chirpy by the end.
