Triathlon (Tejas super sprint) 1:01:30 [3]

660ys swim
12 mile cycle
3 mile run

had a good start getting out in front on the swim (wave 5 was only the 40-45 agegroup). the weather was beautifully calm and overcast but by the time I exited the water 3rd the wind was gusting. Then not sure where I was after the transition (which was a slow 1min55) cause the start waves from earlier were all around us. There was a guy just ahead of me that looked like he may have been in my group as we started the cycle, but he slowly pulled away into the distance. by 2 miles the rain was bucketing down and the wind pumping. On a borrowed bike so no idea how fast/slow I was going, but was in the biggest gear grinding away passing everybody. Was very worried about the drafting rules before the tri cause I have never done a non drafting tri before. Turned out not to be a problem cause nobody passed me.
Had what I thought was a quick transition to the run, then had to return to my bike for my number, luckily the marshal sent me back or I would have been DSQ.
Exiting the run (for the second time) there was a guy 30 m ahead with 43 on his calf (everybody had their age on their left calf) so I was determined to catch him. Got him by mile 1, but slowed to take a goo and some water at the refreshment table. Caught him again by mile 2, then with 500m to go I kicked and dropped him by enough to break his fighting spirit.
1h1min and 20 (ish) seconds got me 1st in age group and 11th overall. pretty happy, now i feel i need to get my own bike and enjoy the super sprint season this summer.
