Gentle warm up jog trying to loosen up the foot and my back, which I hurt putting my gaiters on.

Orienteering race 18:49 intensity: (5 @1) + (9 @2) + (28 @3) + (17:13 @4) + (54 @5) 3.06 km (6:09 / km) +56m 5:38 / km

Easter prologue at Taromeo Creek, Open Long.
Hoping to have a nice controlled run to build some confidence before Easter starts properly tomorrow. Made it around without really screwing anything up but it didn't really inspire confidence. Never felt properly in touch with the map. Kept leaving controls in slightly the wrong direction and couldn't identify the rock features with any confidence so there was a lot of slowing down and checking compass to make sure I got close enough to stumble across the controls without losing much time. Kept thinking about Brodie's post race interview where he said that on every control as he approached he was 90% sure the control was going to be there and it always was. I don't think I had a single control where I felt that confident. Still good to keep enough awareness of my lack of confidence to avoid any significant mistake. Hope the rock mapping makes more sense to me at 1:10,000.
Foot very sore on the drive home.

Orienteering race 42:21 intensity: (27 @1) + (13 @2) + (7:43 @3) + (33:58 @4) 6.93 km (6:06 / km) +177m 5:25 / km

Manning Park long hard course.
Heel a bit sore but didn't notice it much once I got going. First came up a little earlier than I expected and didn't follow the track I wanted to 2 but didn't lost much time. All went pretty much to plan after that. Didn't feel great but kept moving along ok. Had a new trail runner guy, Volker, near me for a while after 14 (with the missing SI). He ran past me up the hill to 20 but then took a wrong turn on the way to 21 so didn't see him again. He ended up punching the wrong second last control. Legs feeling dead by the end so concentrated on cadence rather than stride length at the finish and managed to match Amy but 3 seconds behind Liam. Most people had at least one bad control so I ended up first, 3 minutes ahead of Sten.

Running warm up/down 9:43 intensity: (6:34 @1) + (3:09 @2) 1.38 km (7:01 / km) +29m 6:21 / km
ahr:110 max:127 shoes: Brooks Glycerin 17 Black 2

Warm up hobble from junction down to the start. Ran a few laps of the ramp up to the oval trying to loosen my ankles up.

Running tempo 20:53 intensity: (13 @1) + (20 @2) + (2:25 @3) + (17:55 @4) 4.99 km (4:11 / km) +105m 3:47 / km
ahr:151 max:159 shoes: Brooks Glycerin 17 Black 2

Didn't intend to run this so fast but conditions were good and John Herzfeld was running away from me at the start so I had to pick it up to try to catch him. Passed John at the turn and kept the pace pretty even coming back. Didn't feel as though I had much in reserve. Right foot started to hurt as soon as I stopped and was quite painful walking around the shops and driving home.

Tennis 1:00:00 [1]

Liam wanted to play some tennis and I'm pretty dumb so I went and hit with him for an hour despite my foot still being really sore.
Stopped to play a bit of table tennis on the new outdoor table in the corner of Rosalie Park on the way over.
