Easy morning run with Rachel through UWA and back past Matilda Bay. Assumed metro would be cancelled and didn't seem worth waiting until 8am for parkrun as it would get significantly hotter.

Stirling metro series. Tried to take this easy given the heat and the morning run. Took a long time to get started, just from looking for the start triangle rather than planning a route. Felt as though my start through 3, 20, 2 was bad at the time but it was actually pretty good. One good thing about it is it meant I was on my own most of the way so not feeling under any pressure. Sten and Liam started straight to 2 and then went mostly the same way as me so were a couple of minutes ahead on the road and going a lot faster. I was feeling reasonably comfortable through the first half but after turning to go with the wind it started to feel a lot hotter so I slowed down quite a bit and stopped for a drink at the playground after 10. Saw Mark leaving 9 ahead of me, going the opposite direction. He was clearly moving faster but ended up running almost 2km further than me. Saw Liam a long way ahead on the way up to 25 but I went past him when he did the out and back to 7 (with a mistake on the way back). Really started to feel the heat after this so just tried to keep jogging to the end. Finished second almost 3 minutes behind Sten. Might have been able to get close if I had pushed it but that would have been very unpleasant.

Went out to Cottesloe to join the Friday morning group run followed by a swim and a smoothie for Rachel's birthday. Felt surprisingly easy and painless but the heart rate was getting up a bit by the end so maybe wasn't really so easy. Didn't seem too hot but still felt nice going for a swim afterwards. Dropped Liam off at UWA for a tennis lesson on the way home.

Walked around Rosalie Park for a bit to loosen up. Tried running a little but was pretty sore so went back to walking until I found Daniel and Daisy finishing the Rosalie run so walked back to the school chatting to them and stayed until Ben, James, Chris and Helen had also finished. They managed to talk me into attempting a bit of a run, despite all saying it was horrible this morning. Still hurting so I just kept speeding up until I didn't notice it anymore. Temperature didn't actually seem too bad to me.

Morning jog with Rachel around the trails to the North of camp. Stiff, sore, tired and slow. Didn't improve much and felt no desire to do any more.

Running 22:54 intensity: (37 @1) + (3:37 @2) + (9:33 @3) + (8:42 @4) + (25 @5) 4.95 km (4:37 / km) +67m 4:20 / km

Morning run with the juniors. Decided to try to stay with the group that Riley and Andries were leading. Had to put in a bit of effort to get onto the back of the group at the start but was quite comfortable once I caught up. Had quite a good group heading out to the bridge and back. I think it was Riley, Andries, Liam, Alastair, Eckart, Chris, Rohan and me together at the turn with Archie not far behind and Ruben was with us much of the way out. After the turn I felt as though the pace slowed and I found myself going to the front without meaning to. When I got to the front there was quite a headwind so I thought I'd better increase the effort a bit so as not to slow the group down. Apparently I actually increased the pace by about 20 seconds/km so it ended up turning into a bit of a race at the end with Riley and Liam pulling ahead (and Liam winning the sprint of course). Felt so much easier than the earlier jog.
