Tennis 45:00 [2]

Doubles with Greeny against Colin and Iain Stewart. Predictably got smashed 6-2 6-0. Our main strength is our speed around the court but my right hamstring still looks quite bruised from straining it last week and I think my left hamstring was actually more restrictive. I was quite worried I was going to strain it as well so I tried not to run for much.

Running warm up/down 6:31 [2] 1.15 km (5:39 / km) +39m 4:50 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 280

Just enough warm up to convince myself that my hamstrings wouldn't snap as soon as I started to push a bit.

Orienteering race 19:51 [4] 3.16 km (6:17 / km) +60m 5:44 / km

NavDash Christmas Tree Creek, Long course. I had been looking forward to this event but with the current state of my body and the heat on the day (34°C when we arrived according to the car) it really didn't seem like a good idea to run at all. Of course I did still run but tried to take it relatively easy to avoid straining anything. I enjoyed the first section and didn't feel too bad up to the creek crossing at 9. Saw Rachel running towards me as I ran from 7-8 and tried to work out what later section of the course she was up to but it turns out she was just taking a bad route from 8-9 and I got to 9 in front. Saw ShotRat up the hill ahead on the way to 10 and from there it was just a hot hard slog around the rest of the course. Fenry came past on the way to 16 but I was already pretty cooked by then so couldn't even think about trying to go with him. Struggled to run the downhills and keep the brain working from there but made it to the finish just in time to douse my head in cold water before it burst into flames.
Very disappointing to have to rush off to Brody's birthday party to spend the rest of the afternoon swimming and eating doughnuts instead of staying to collect controls. Right hammy still feels obviously injured but not obviously any worse than before the run and tennis.

Tennis 1:00:00 [3]

Singles against Iain Stewart. Went down 1-6, 1-6 which seemed a pretty fair reflection of the match. I played some pretty good points but Iain always seemed to be able to come up with one more good shot than me. Didn't hold serve once in the match but did at least serve one nice ace and managed one break each set to avoid the dreaded bagel.
Didn't notice the calf at all but both glutes were feeling really tight from yesterday's efforts.

Tennis 2:00:00 [2]

Doubles with Greeny against Shane and Michael. A really tight match which we eventually won 4-6 6-3 6-3. Lots of tight games and plenty of desperation shown, especially by Greeny who I reckon hit the turf in almost every game.
Next round we are up against Iain Stewart who thrashed me in singles and his dad Colin who took Greeny out in the first round of singles so I don't like our chances of going any further.
Tweaked the right hammy a bit sprinting for a ball that ended up going out by a fair bit. Didn't really restrict me much but I could feel it for the rest of the afternoon and is still a bit sore now.

Tennis 1:00:00 [1]

Mixed doubles with Rachel against top seeds Daniel and Debbie. Got off to a good start breaking Deb's serve the first two times to lead 2-0 and then 4-2 but gave up the break each time on Rachel's serve. Had break points again at 4-4 but couldn't finish it and then I lost my serve to hand them the set 4-6. Once we lost the first set I think I lost it a bit both mentally and physically and my game fell apart. I don't think I really had the energy to try to fight back from a set down and we folded pretty meekly 1-6 in the second.
