Long run with Rachel on the MTBO map from yesterday. Tended to drop behind a little on the hills but mostly felt pretty comfortable and handled the distance ok.
Found a water bottle on the track somewhere which looked as though it probably came from an MTBO competitor so I thought I should take it back. Still had half an hour to run so it got a bit uncomfortable but at least I did manage to reunite it with it's owner (peterk). Probably should have either had a drink or tipped the water out.

WA middle distance champs at Roleystone.
I made a plan to do some hilly cycling on Saturday and then realised that was the day Rachel was planning to do the MTBO. When I saw the start list had Graeme and Michael doing M40 on the same course as Rachel I couldn't resist joining in even though I knew my heart wouldn't like it.
Heart started playing up on the way to the start but the only times it really felt bad was when it dropped into the 130s which wasn't very often. Took it pretty easy but I'd still had enough by the time I got to 12 so the last couple of legs were even slower. Glad I'm not doing the long distance.
Couldn't really work out where I was at the start so just tried to head roughly south to the bitumen. Didn't recognise that 2 was on the Eastern track but I don't think it mattered too much. Missed the turn to 3 because I was expecting an actual track similar to the one I was on, turned back when I could see 6. Rest of the course all seemed pretty straight forward but I do not understand the track gradings at all. Found it really hard to read the map on the map board, think I would have preferred to carry it in my hand. Came last in M40 as expected but did at least beat all the girls. Don't think I will be back.
