Mandurah Metro Series.
Not really sure why I did this, just venting some frustration I suspect.
Never expected my heart to like this and it was clear that it wasn't going to as my heart rate was jumping between 67 and 130 waiting for the start.
Intended to start to the SW but when I looked at the map it wasn't clear what to do after 19 and heading out through 8, 6, 2, 4 looked simpler so I changed my mind. Heart rate straight up to 220 on the way to 8 and I was getting left well behind. NW corner didn't look worth it so I went up the hill in the middle of the map to 9, 10, 16. I had worked my way past most of the early bolters by this stage and was feeling ok on the downhill run out to the coast through 17 and 15 to 11 where I saw Wil and Shane leaving. I did a quick count and found 11 was my 10th of 19 controls so I thought it was going to be pretty close.
Had a pretty lonely run from here through 20, 24, 25 and struggled a bit on the hills through 23, 21, 18 and 14. My heart rate was starting to drop below 200 through here after sitting around 220 for most of the first half hour. Saw Shane going into 13 a bit ahead of me and thought he would probably have me covered but was encouraged to see him turn back the way he came so I tried to push a bit harder through 19 to the finish but didn't really need to as I ended up winning by 3 minutes over Wil with Shane another 20 seconds back.
Wasn't sure about my route choice as I thought I probably should have got 12 before 8 at the start but according to Simmo's analysis that only cost me 50m and I did pick the best route that didn't include 12.

Very tired yet again so I took it really easy. This time I suspect it was largely because Amy crept into our bed in the middle of the night and kept kicking me for the rest of the night. Should have put her back into her bed but it just seemed too hard at the time.

Finally made it to a rosalie runners wednesday morning run only 6 months after first learning of them. Heart was fine until I got a little out of breath talking to another runner about her heart problem and set mine off about half way through the run. Struggled up the hills through KP after that but felt ok once we turned downhill again.
