Went for a hike at the lake in the early evening. Spent some time looking over the old iron furnace area that Ken told me about. There are ruins everywhere! I found the
furnace itself...was standing on top of it yesterday and didn't even see it. Then E on the long penninsula (the green one sticking into the lake just above the "L" in Loch
here), there are old basements, root cellars, wells, stonewalls, footings - all kinds of stuff. Most of it is pretty overgrown. I've run through there maybe a dozen times before and didn't see any of it. I took a bunch of
pictures. Looks like scenes from Indiana Jones. "Throw me the idol, I throw you the whip!"
The first few photos are just of the forest, boulders and frog pond. Also took some shots of that cemetery, which is a contour above the furnace, just before the hill steepens. Its a little hard to date. The earliest dates are in the 1850s, and the latest ones are in the 1930's.
