Big loop up onto Keltston Roundhill and then back via the river and canal. Taking in some of the routes I used to do from school. One nasty climb near the start which I took fairly steady but then quite chill after that. 112km for the week with 2 sessions and a long run. Felt really manageable and body holding up well so far.

Easy out along the bridleway and back along the lanes. Woke up feeling like a sack of potatoes but actually felt quite sprightly once things got going. Seem to be managing recovery quite well as legs didn’t take too much of a hit from yesterday’s grind.

Along the canal again. Bit of a struggle today. Kept the pace more chill than last week but was a lot hotter. Heat was just sapping every part of my body which was compounded by the loose gravel on the towpath. Considered sacking it around halfway but knew I needed to learn how to run in hot weather. Soldiered on slowly dying but managed to finish the job. Properly dizzy and light headed by the end. Just a complete noob at running in the heat. No stress, the only way I’m going to get better at it is doing it more often. Averaged 3:25/km for the 10mile so not that bad at all, tbh felt like I was running a lot slower than that. I remember the coach at Bradley saying they do the first few longer tempos in August/September at around 5:30/mile(3:25/km) pace. He said that was fast for the usual 25-30 degree heat they get over there. After hearing that I thought that he was just being wet, but now I fully understand. #humbled.

Fancied something different from the usual village loop(s). Unfortunately the only other options involved a healthy amount of climb which my legs didn’t appreciate. Nevertheless enjoyed the route down through the valley. Very humid out, caught me off guard a bit.

Easy hour. Felt surprisingly good, managed to sort out a satisfying loop, really excellent.

Round the village on a mile loop. Working a bit harder than I would have liked due to humidity and lots of pollen in the air which made breathing more difficult. Vaccine on Sunday may also explain slightly lethargic feels. Still working well within myself and felt better as I got into it.

Running 13:23 [2] 2.76 km (4:51 / km) +20m 4:41 / km

Down.
