Some orienteering with the boys round DCP. Meant to be easy for the whole thing but had to stop early to tie shoe laces so chasing back on was an effort. The pace picked up around half way, so I decided not to go with it. Boys waited at the odd control anyway. Did the last few controls together taking things nice and chill. Some fairly dodgy mapping in places and terrain was an effort at times, but overall enjoyed myself a lot.

3k TT DNF

Felt naff from the start. Hammies almost instantly seizing up, never felt comfortable. Swimming after a km. something not right, a km in 2:50 should feel at least in control but felt I was fighting it. Pulled the plug at half way. Really disappointed.

Feel like I’ve suffered a little bit of burnout since the new year. A large amount of energy was spent trying to run fast times through winter and I think the lack of off season is just catching up with me. Don’t think anything major is wrong, just a bit of stagnation compounded by lack of motivation.

Decided to take the next 2 weeks properly chill. Then basically get back to it but make sure that most of my sessions are controlled. Will hopefully get a good block in over may and then maybe hit something in June. Then planning to take July off. Hopefully that will leave me in good stead to smash the autumn xc scene in the US.

Chill Blackford loop with Finn. Tops off early doors. Nice little loop, decent amount of climb but leggies felt alright.

Absolute bonkage round meadows and KF with Carcas, JT and Dan. Felt alright pre strides but felt fairly grim on the strides and then absolutely horrific after. Bit of a shame as proper nice vibes otherwise. Still enjoyed this a lot.

HH grass sesh: 8x3’ (90’’ jog)

Fairly decent session with Fred. Just hitting some sub-tempo paces working down from 3:08 to 2:59/km, jogging the recovery’s around 4:30 - 5:00/km. Felt fairly comfy for the first half. Fred moved away on the last 2 but just kept things controlled and finished strong enough.
