(injured) shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 cl

BUCS Relay

Felt extremely rough, set out in a group of 3 (Harry and Ali Thornton). Was keeping up fine on the hill up to 1 but followed into wrong control on 2. Game over, gave up, jogged it in. Time a little bit embarrassing and shin hurt fs.

BUCS Orienteering Individual

Tough area lots of climb. Started decent for the first couple of controls. Got Fred in my sights on the way to 3 then caught him at 4, unfortunately he wasn't actually at 4 so lost 1:30 looking for it. Took a different route to fred on 5 then was together for 6 and 7. On the way to 8 turned around and realised Harry had caught 2mins. Gassed it up the hill and got a small gap on harry and Fred. Caught Finn at 8 and ran the butterfly with him. Made a 40 second miss on 11, which meant the Harry/Fred train just got away. From 16 onwards finn took over nav duties and I died a very long slow death. Dropped nearly 2 mins to the Harry/Fred train over the last part of the course. Not a bad performance but far from perfect. Didn't have the conditioning to race flat out for the full hour, was really flagging from about 45mins in. Also got pipped by Fred and Spud on the run in, absolutely gutted.

Note
(injured)

Probably should have mentioned this earlier. Shin is a bit f*cked, was going to run today but can still feel it when walking down stairs so will probably keep this cross training going until the weekend.

Spinning 1:57:38 [2]
shoes: Nike Pegasus 34

Cycle out along the coast

54.5km / 27.8kph

Probably the biggest bonk I've ever been through. Was extremely grim just didn't eat enough today. Block headwind all the way back home was absolutely.

Spinning 1:30:00 [2]
shoes: Under Armour Charge Bandit 3

Easy 90 on the watt bike, averaging 180W for the whole thing. Was originally going to head out down the coast on the road bike but couldn't be sacked coming back into a headwind. This was extremely boring and not very fun at all but got through it.

Spinning 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: Hoka One One Speedgoat 2

Watt Bike: 45’ Steady —> 15’ Easy —> 10 x 1’ (1) —> 10’ Easy

Haven’t been on this beauty for a while. Very bonky by the end but was holding a good power. Feeling a little bit sick probably because ate too soon before.

Gym 1:00:00 [1]

Squats and hip thrusters. Got a squat PB finally got the big 1 0 0. Saw a different physio today, apparently the injury isn’t directly my post tib, more an inflammation of the sheikh around the post tib. Most likely cause by me being a heal striker and not wearing shoes with enough drop. Anyway will train on grass and wear more cushioned shoes for the next few weeks leading up to thre jk.
