Another week of X-Training complete, happy with the amount of hours I've put in. Shin still not better but I'm doing all the right things so I think its just a case of giving it a bit more time. Got a couple of Alter-G treadmill sessions booked for next week which will help add a bit more running to my training. Will re-asses the shin situation at the end of the week again and take things from there, but for now it looks like another week of spinning for me :(

Coast ride with Felix

62.6km / 28.1kph

Felt quite good on this. Nice to finally get back on the road bike. Tailwind out and then fairly grim headwind back, so quite happy with the pace. Had to stop of in coop on the way back to recover Felix from his major Bonk and to prevent myself from ending up in a similar state.

Forgot to say I sacked off bucs because couldn’t be assed getting 10 hour bus. Probably a good thing will save me risking further injury.

Good session, got the HR up to 180 in the second half. Hard to spin when it’s so nice outside but just need to keep this level up for a bit longer.

Woke up in the night and my shin/calf area was very achy. Couldn’t get to sleep for a while because I was very worried about it. Feel fine this morning. Going to go to bucs because no point in missing it but will make the decision if I want to race depending on how I’m moving warming up. Any sign of a limp and I’ll call it a day. Anyway taking a rest today to let everything settle.

Easy meadows with 4 x 30s strides at the end. Couldn't feel shin for the first minute, then could feel a bit. Then after strides was probably a bit more uncomfortable. Hopefully will still run bucs, cant get a refund so will fly down and probably decide on the day if i'll race.

Fartlec Watt Bike Session: 4x 5min on, 5min off

Got my HR monitor connected to the bike (my watch can't connect) for the first time. Quite happy, managed to get my HR up to the mid 170s for the fist 3 reps, then got it up to 182 for the last rep. Think this sort of thing is best to maintain fitness, had my HR up well above 170 for 20mins there which was nice.

Steady 90mins on the watt bike. Managed to hold 208W which I’m quite happy with. Really felt it in the legs near the end.

Hard to express how grim this was. Just too hot in the circuits room, they really need to get the fans back. Legs were tired going in as a result of the Uber shift and gym yeatsterday. Pushed really hard on the first set of 10 to the point where my head was throbbing and I started getting dizzy. In the break between the sets I genuinely thought I was going to be sick. Then the last set I somehow ground out, if anything it wasn’t as terrible as the first set. Happy to get this done but what a horrible experience.
