JEC Mass Start Long - 29th (Should have been top 20)
Basically there was some out of bound and lots of people ran through it. So the course ended the control before that leg (Makes perfect sence that). Promise I'm not Salty. Anyway on with my race... Made around 2mins of mistakes in the carnage of the first loop. Came through the first map exchange (15mins in) in 26th. Next loop was scrappy but with less mistakes, came through the last map exchange (30mins in) in 16th, and surrounded by a solid packs of swedes and swiss quys. Messed up the first control of the long final loop by 2.5mins and again the next control by 2.5mins. Very annoyed at this, literally just had to follow but tried to do my own this. Anyway this dropped me from 16th to 41st in the space of 4 controls. On the next long leg section 20-21-22-23 I put the gas down and climbed 12 places. I was quite happy to match the pace of the group I'd lost at the start of the loop in this section of control (however I was 5mins down on them). Then onto the final leg. I saw a path option but quickly realised it was out of bounds, so took the straight option down to the lake. This worked, I climbed 2 place and just pipped Tom to the finish (who was running with that group I'd lost earlier. Soon after finishing I was told many people had gone out of bounds along the track and gained massive time. Eventually the decision was made to finish the course before the long leg. This meant I lost out massively as my route counted for nothing. Just think if youre going to void the critical long leg of the course, you may aswell void the entire course. You cant win JEC long at control 23 thats just not a thing. Apologies for my minor rant.
