Note
(rest day)

It’s been a really good week training wise. Wanted to go for a 90min ride today but punctured about 500m in and cba to fix puncture. Probably a good thing to take the day off.

Running race 16:38 [4] 4.87 km (3:25 / km) +46m 3:16 / km
shoes: Hoka One One Tracer

Bath Parkrun - 1st
Course PB 16:38
Slow course with 30 uphill steps in the 1st km and Forrest trails/farmers fields for the rest. Not that happy but not a disaster either. PB by about 10seconds. Lead from the start and pulled out quite a big gap fairly quickly so trying to motivate myself to keep pushing was hard. Very slow 3rd km (3:40) fuck knows what happened there. Legs just didn’t have much bounce in them. Still a pb and a win can’t complain that much.

Note

Felt shin very slightly on shake-out. Very minor barely noticeable but just a reminder to take things steady for the time being. Think 50km of running a week is currently my injury free limit. But I’m getting used to cycling now so not really a problem.

Spinning 47:55 [2] +244m

Easy Lunch Ride
20.9km / 26.2kph
Bit more of a hilly route today. A few steep climbs and a couple of long grindy drags. Felt good. Almost binned it on some grit going at 50kph, scary stuff!
7 PM

Running 12:01 [2] 2.91 km (4:08 / km)
shoes: Hoka One One Speedgoat 2

Very short evening shake-out
Just a few laps of the field then up the road a bit. Doing parkrun tomorrow. Hopefully will get a pb. slow course so anything under 16:30 I’ll be happy. (Course pb 16:47)

Note
weight:68.9kg

Slightly alarming this rapid weight loss. At target weight now but planned to lose over 4 weeks not 4 days. Probably combination of not eating/drinking enough and doing double days.

Running 22:07 [4] 5.42 km (4:05 / km)
shoes: Hoka One One Tracer

Session (gavel path) - 8x1min (2)

Tough session (tougher than expected) just about ground it out. Very tempted to bail but happy I finished. Legs in pieces now. Good to get another one in the bag.

Spinning 28:20 [2]

Short easy evening ride
12km / 25.4kph
Absolutely dead legs pretty ruined. Went round in such a low gear. Still average pace not terrible for an easy effort. Good to get some solid hours in with minimal impact on my shin/calf.

Spinning 58:25 [2] +257m

Easy ride in the sun
26km / 26.7kph
Felt good just span it out with a low gear most of the way round. I like cycling :)

Orienteering 21:50 [3] 5.27 km (4:09 / km) +55m 3:56 / km
shoes: Hoka One One Tracer

BOK Urban Series Event
Did the green which was 4km straight line which I thought would be like more of a sprint (bit long). Planned to go at a steady state sort of pace but went off a bit quick and because I cba to do any warm up I instantly started cramping up. This meant most of the course was a bit of a slog. Just trudged round getting very little sprint benefit. Quite a lot of short sharp climbs which very nearly killed me. Also took some terrible route choices and got a stitch. Overall a fairly grim experience but still time with a map in hand..

Running 10:31 [1] 2.42 km (4:21 / km)
shoes: Hoka One One Tracer

WD bit longer because felt bad that I did no warm up.

Canal Session: 5x3mins (2)

Average paces: 3:05,3:07,3:09,3:09,3:07/km

Pretty happy with this. Felt hard but controlled. Each rep done @5k race pace. First session in 2 weeks but don’t seem to have lost anything. Next session on Thursday but might do a bit of Orienteering tomorrow.

Running 5:30 [1] 1.32 km (4:10 / km)
shoes: Hoka One One Tracer

WU - some bloke on a tricycle started on me because I didn’t hold a gate for him. What a bellend but nae bother, I swiftly showed him who’s boss then carried on.

Spinning 46:34 [2] +198m

Cycling 20.8km / 26.9kph
Along the lanes kept fairly short will run later today. Felt fairly comfortable but headwind made this difficult at points. First ride on new bike......nice.
7 PM

Running 30:00 [3] 7.57 km (3:58 / km) +78m 3:46 / km
shoes: Nike Pegasus 34

Steady evening 30
Was meant to be easy, felt pretty smooth but honestly tilted more to the steady end of the spectrum. Absolutely no pain before during or after in calf/shin so don’t think any damage caused. Nice to feel this comfortable at a solid pace. About 70%road/30% grass. Might start doing more double cycling/running days.
