Race offroad race (River Avon 12km mudbath) 55:10 [5] 12.37 km (4:28 / km) +95m 4:18 / km
shoes: Inov8 x talon 212

Horrible conditions, thick mud around all of course, strong winds, and very steep climbs. Finished 1st just out of about 250 runners, not a fast race was more about strength than speed, managed to break the pack on the uphill and just about managed to hold it on the run down to the finish...

3 Rough/Fine O courses a contours line course a contours course with no paths on map, a mass start race and a mini relay. Area was much steeper and tougher underfoot. Too many paths on map, was better when they took paths off map, then you could focus on contour detail. Mass start race was fun......

Did 2 attack points courses, a talk O and a relocation exercise, flat area, very bogy underfoot but nice and runnable forest. Used compass a lot as there was little contour detail.

Considering I've been ill for most of the week and still am a bit under the weather, this was good. Felt surprisingly fresh after long run yesterday, so really started to put the hammer down near the end, all off-road as well, relatively flat, just undulating....

Still feeling a bit ill, so was cautious and stopped a couple of times to unblock my nose. Trails were v.muddy, v.icy and v.slippy so face planted a couple of time, but the weather was nice so that's a positive that I can take...
