TVOC Street-O, Oxford city centre. 31 ctrls, score-o. ~10km shortest route. Didn't run yesterday (30-min erg race instead which suppressed my HR response nicely today) so feeling pretty light on my feet for this one. Sort of warmed up by cycling into town - it was a bit cold and damp. Quickly worked out a good loop of the city, missing out the two extreme ctrls east (I wasn't confident I had the run speed to get them all: wrong). By the time I'd scooped all the others and was back in the city centre with no more to catch I realised I still had 15 minutes left to get the last two so a mad dash east at 5k pace nabbed them (when I could've got them much more easily with better route planning from the start).

Orienteering race 1:13:12 [4] *** 10.9 km (6:43 / km) +159m 6:16 / km

Short Brown, 7.8km, 23 ctrls. Going reasonably until I took a short cut to #8 that was "fight" and not the "runnable" marked on the map :( Made a path junction error on the approach to both #10 and #13. Mistook a path to be crossed on the way to #19 and ended up wandering about in the bracken before I found it, then got stuck behind a horse and rider on my way to the finish. Running OK on the open bits considering I've logged another +100km week. [Now a few Routegadget routes have gone up I see that when the navigation is easy, I'm relying too much on lengthy "safe" path routes and could do with cutting a few corners.]
