World Rogaining Champs in La Molina, Catalonia, Spain
Tough race in the Pyrenees. Cold and wet weather to start, drying a bit and then another downpour in the evening before drying out. Cold wind through the night and very strong at sunrise.
I had a poor run. Didn't have any fitness left after the flu. We were good for the first few hours, but then I started suffering on the climbs. Got a bit better again after sunrise, but I was crap during the night.
Got 356 points, which was 9th Men Open and 15th Overall (5 MV and 1 XO teams ahead of us). Winner (LAT) got 414 points, so we're 60 points behind. This was about 6-9km further in distance.
Generally our route plan was good, but we needed to cut out low 2,3,4 pointers earlier on already. Left the altitude areas for the night, where there would be longer visibility. Made about 3-4 nav errors during the race.
Overall a really stunning area for Rogaining. Beautiful forests and meadows. Just steep.
