Day 2 - Brown
A better day of O'. Started the chase in 2nd as Alex didn't race today. Was 3m50 down on Brad to start. Had closed this down to 3:30 by #4, but back up to 4:00 by #6.
Brad made a hash of #8 though and I caught and passed him here. Managed to sneak into the control, but he was only 15s behind on leaving it. Luckily dense bush to #9 gave me a gap, with it extending to 1:30 at #9.
Unfortunately for me the nav got too easy for my lack of speed from here on, so the gap started dropping. It went from 1:00 to 0 between #11 and #12, 30s due to my zigzag crossing the riverbed and 30s due to speed.
Stuck behind Brad from here in, but the gap grew slowly. A different and better route choice to #14 let me close the gap for a while. Had one final opportunity to #16, where I crossed the river further left, but there was no difference in the route choices. Lost out on the Oringen by 15s or so, but at least got the best time on Day 2.
Nice to run a chasing start race. Haven't been able to have good head-to-head racing in many, many years.
