ORIENTEERING race 45:00 [4]
(injured) shoes: OLWAY Tigers

Started the Long Race feeling a little jaded - possible as the heat was hot, but just didn't feel that bothered after the middle race.

Anyway got 400m into the course and tweaked my ankle. Decided to do the first couple of km to test it then decided to stop at 9 and pack it in.

Sensible as I didn't want to damage it for Jukola, and also sensible as the rest of the course looked dull.

about 1/2 the people jacked it in including sprotty, monkey and doug. I'm glad I wasn't out for 2 hours in the heat but disappointed at my performance.

Great race around Shrewsbury town center. Loved every second of it. some perfect route choices and some slight misses. As my training has been poor og late I was happy to finish 1m/km behind Scott. Shows I'm still there technically but not physically.

Intricate little area in the shropshire county. Lots of crags, lots of up and down and HEAD HIGH BRACKEN!
Didn't do very well as struggled with quick route choices and found I just couldn't do the climb.
This is a kick start in the bum for next year.

My first fell race of the year - and yes i know it's June!!

What the hell was i doing? Went off great and felt fine up the first ascent - even fine on the second really steep descent. Then all else failed when it came to any descent!

My legs turned to jelly and I couldn't even run faster than Middleditch.

Q. How did I get beaten by 2 girls?
A. Maybe it's because I descend like a girl

Q. How did Middleditch beat me?
A. He's been doing too much gambling and must be very lucky.

Q. Why can't I descend?
A. It's more to do with the lack of planetFear lycra than the descent. Need to get my hands on some more of those...
