ORIENTEERING race (French 5 Day: Etape 5) 1:33:43 [5] **** 12.5 km (7:30 / km) +315m 6:40 / km
spiked:26/26c shoes: Highlanders

Got all the controls spot on just knackered and running in 31degree heat. Start time was at 10.11 so not even at teh hottest part of the day! Sandy tracks and scrub sums up this day with lots of route choices and lovely terrain in between huge slogs.
Gorgeous to finish and a good time for the 70km i'd run that week.
Great event - Gaz even won 2nd place and a trophy for the Sheffield contingent.

ORIENTEERING race (French 5 Day: Etape 4) 1:05:00 [5] **** 7.5 km (8:40 / km) +240m 7:28 / km
spiked:11/14c shoes: Highlanders

Injured this day with possible tendonitis....not very happy - legs felt heavy and tired and didnt enjoy the walk to the second control. Made a decision to sack it in at the 2nd and cut to 10 to avoid the other 5km loop.
Did ok and managed to keep map contact at a lower speed. Another horrible run in.

ORIENTEERING race (French 5 Day: Etape 3) 1:29:34 [5] **** 11.5 km (7:47 / km) +100m 7:28 / km
spiked:22/28c shoes: Highlanders

Very tricky day with lots and lots of green! Horribl after number 2 with juniper and bushy bushes everywhere! Missed no 8 by 4 minutes and also 16 by 4 too!! My legs started to feel the pain of running for 50km already this week.
The run in was also a nightmare - 300m along a sandy ride. At least this area was next to the campsite - BEER, BEACH and SUNSHINE awaited!!

ORIENTEERING race (French 5 Day: Etape 2) 1:26:35 [5] ***** 13.0 km (6:40 / km) +240m 6:06 / km
spiked:24/25c shoes: Highlanders

French 5 Days - First race on the 2nd day as missed the first one for flights on the monday. Awesome area to start with and lovely to run up to control 16. After that we had 7 km to go with only 8 controls. It was a bit of a slog along sandy paths and rides but was lovely again to finish.
Very impressed with myself - 13km in 86 after a mountain marathon at the weekend!

ORIENTEERING race (SLMM Day 2) 2:52:00 [5] *** 16.0 km (10:45 / km) +1300m 7:39 / km
spiked:6/7c shoes: Highlanders

Second day was much tougher ascents but very easy to see people in the distance. Caught up 2nd place at the 1st control and proceeded to overtake them. They caught us back up as they were very good at climbing, but we finished under 3 hours and in a great position.
Medals awarded for 3rd overall and 2nd mixed team. Great stuff!
