ORIENTEERING 1:10:00 [3] ***

Me and Andy L went to check out Eccy Woods for the ShUOC Chasing Sprint. It was 'lovely' and 'runnable'. Can't wait to plan some events on there in the next week or so!
We also tried to look a the proposed car park.... might need a bit of bramble trimming before any cars get in there...

ah well - its all good!

RUNNING race (Stanage Struggle) 44:55 [5] 6.5 mi (6:55 / mi) +330m 5:58 / mi
shoes: Highlanders

Big race in the Peak today. Lots of people and lots of good ones at that.

Not realy sure how long or how much climb there is - wasn't very accurate i don't think...But a good race whatever. Was feeling pretty good on the climb, kept with Edwards and Llewellyn all the way to the top. Also caught Shane on the top but then lost all three on the descent.

I am rubbish at descending!

Also got femaled in the form of Janet McIver, only about 30m but still enough to be annoyed - also she overtook me on the downhill. If on;y these fell races were all up hill!!
A good result for me though taking 5 minutes out of my time last year. A good improvement I think!!
Also finished it off with a successful Little John Cumberland Challenge! Excellent!

RUNNING warm up/down 25:00 [3]
shoes: Highlanders

Warm up/ down and stretches.

CLIMBING (Bouldering) 45:00 [4]
shoes: Boreal Jokers

Bouldering at the Matrix.
Good routes. Feel a hell of a lot stronger than I used to and managed a few Mediums. The Yellow Easy on the overhang is NOT easy!!
Good session but cut short by me having to meet Charlie A and Andy L in a pub to talk about the ShUOC Chasing Sprint... we even got a cherry in our CokeCola!

ORIENTEERING 18:50 [4] *** 2.1 km (8:58 / km) +85m 7:28 / km
spiked:10/11c shoes: Highlanders

Trains with Jon. Raced round 2 loops

#1: Suprise View Control Pick - bracken and boulders galore - only just managed 10m/kms...doh! Missed the last one due to bracken and highlanders being rubbish on wet rock - didn't fancy killing myself!

ORIENTEERING 14:00 [4] *** 1.6 km (8:45 / km) +70m 7:11 / km
spiked:7/9c shoes: Highlanders

Nice bit below the road - suprise view wooded bit.
Bloody brackeny so decided to skip a few controls. Not very nice and head high!!!!
Quality route choice to the last one - and we got there at the same time.

RUNNING hills (Hill Rep) 20:00 [4]
shoes: Highlanders

Hill rep from the car to Mother Cap ... and jogs between courses.

Nice Ride, bit roady on the way back through town but nice to get out and ride nonetheless.
Lots of climb.

ORIENTEERING (Sprint Training) 35:00 [5] **** 7.2 km (4:52 / km) +170m 4:21 / km
shoes: Asics Trainers

Sprint O Training around Sheffield with Jon.

Trains exercies on an old course I'd planned a while back. We were both pretty knackered after the bike ride yesterday but managed to finish it off with lots of speed. Tough on the hills and ended up being quite fast.

And the first orienteering since Lincoln - need to do more technical stuff now!

BIKING long 3:30:00 [4] ** 39.4 km (5:20 / km) +680m 4:54 / km

Firstly me and Jon went to Don Valley to watch the South Yorkshire Road Relays take place...quite interesting and some VERY fast people there!! Hallamshire taking the Gold in the Womens' and the Silver in the Mens'.

We then cycled from Don Valley to Wharcliffe through what seemed to be the ghetto...and did some stupid downhillish style routes which were not so easy with no suspension!
...one of them was awesome like a competition track - saw some idiots in full body armour jumping like salmon; looked at our watches - we'd been out for over 3 hours so thought we should head back!!
Good hard ride - we had to lie down after this one...

RUNNING 32:00 [4] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi) +210m 6:53 / mi
shoes: Hardrocks

Tough little run with Jon and partially Rhys. Rhys managed a couple of mins before pain in his knee again - which is a right arse!! Feel sorry for the fella!
Went over the Crookes hill - down to Rivelin Valley - turned right and wavered back up to Walkley cutting through the bottom of bole hill.
Nice tough hills run on a wednesday evening - needed something after the fell race as hadn't run since then.

Ride with Tom Steve and Jon. Gentle and easy.

From Ladybower up to Cutthroat Bridge - over Derwent Edge to Ladybower. Then around that and up ontoHagg side and past Crook Hill.

Lovely to ride but Steve seat fell off and the rest is history. Eunuchs are hard to find these days...

RUNNING race (Longshaw Sheepdog Trails) 46:50 [5] * 6.0 mi (7:48 / mi) +300m 6:45 / mi
shoes: Highlanders

Nice Fell race - basically the backwards route of the Burbage Skyline.

Felt quite strong but was a bit knackered on the first climb - ket it going on the flat and up hills but was rubbish - as usual on the downhill! - need to get that sorted...!!!!

Felt tired at the end but managed to take 6th place. Cool.

ORIENTEERING race (Lincoln City Race) 55:29 [5] **** 8.4 km (6:36 / km) +130m 6:08 / km
spiked:24/28c shoes: Asics Trainers

Tricky and well planned street race. Great area to have it - just a little concerning not many people showed up!!

Great run by me - felt good especially after a tough saturday. Felt pretty good but not on the hills. Was orienteering perfectly until i decided to go 23-26-25-24-25-26... agh! #@"£%!! lost 2 minutes!!

Ah well - could have got 3rd, but thats life! - instead pretended to be Oli and collected his prize in a noname top. All's good!

BIKING long (Peak District Ride 5) 2:39:00 [4] 29.0 km (5:29 / km) +670m 4:55 / km
ahr:119 rhr:41 slept:9.0

5th Ride in the Peak - from Walkley all the way out to Edale.

Through Lodge Moor, Stanage Pole, down over stanage to Ladybower. Around ladybower, up and over Win Hill then through Jaggers Clough and along the road to Edale.
We are getting lots better and finding that the rocks are my friends - even if they do break my bike and my legs. Better than name calling though!!

OTHER 2:20:00 [2] * 9.0 km (15:33 / km) +300m 13:20 / km
shoes: Hardrocks

Loop around Edale. Up Ringing Rodger and to the right (never really been that way before!!) and along to Lady Booth and down. Nice photos taken at the top and good descent without paths.
Gentle and a good warm down after a 2 1/2 hour off road cycle.
