Out and back on the Laurel Highlands Trail. I'm running a point to point ultra on this trail in June and the first ~8 miles have by far the most climb. The trail starts at a river, climbs to a ridge, and then runs along the ridge before descending back to a river in the last few miles. I wanted to run the first section (up to the ridge) to check out the trail and get a feel for timing. The hills were steep! Will definitely be hiking them. Legs recovered well after the climbs though. There was a few inches of snow up at the top, thankfully only a few miles of running through snow. Quads were pretty beat by the end. Based on the pace of this run I'll be well within the time limit for the first checkpoint at ~19 miles (and this run had way more climb - and snow) so feeling good about pacing and where I am with training.

Kevin had to talk me into going out today. It was cold, windy, and snowy. I’m glad he did though because it actually wasn’t that bad and my legs felt pretty good. Ran 800 fast / 800 easy with a faster 400 thrown in at the end.
