Bike (Commute) 30:00 [1] 5.0 mi (10.0 mph)

Run 1:14:29 [4] 8.0 mi (9:19 / mi)

Ran on the B2B trail. Overall felt really good (minus fighting off a cramp for the first few miles).

Tuesday Jul 28, 2015 #

Climbing 1:30:00 [4]

Bouldered for ~1hr and then switched to top roping [5.11-]

Orienteering 1:20:00 [3] 3.0 mi (26:40 / mi)

Wandered around the training course at Chilson. Definitely a little rusty. We spent way too long stopping to look at the map/second guessing where we were. The bugs were pretty vicious, so we only made it through the first 6 checkpoints.

Bike (Commute) 30:00 [1] 5.0 mi (10.0 mph)

Bike (Mtn ) 2:54:00 [4] 35.5 mi (12.2 mph)

Headed out mid-afternoon for our bike ride. Hit up a mix of single track (~3 mi), paved roads (~10 mi), and dirt roads. Legs were tired by the end, but felt good overall. Made an effort to drink more, especially since it was hot, and I think I did pretty well.

Run 27:10 [5] 3.0 mi (9:03 / mi)

Went for a quick run at the farm. Max biked along with me and we decided to head down a road we had never explored before. Ended up going almost entirely uphill for the first half and then back down for the second half. Whew.

Kayaking 1:13:00 [3] 4.0 mi (3.3 mph)

Put in our boats just past the railroad tracks on Huron River Dr. We headed upstream first, but hit a section with strong current and a short section of rocky rapids after ~1.5 miles. Turned around and went past where we put in to finish our paddle.

Bike (Commute) 30:00 [1] 5.0 mi (10.0 mph)

Run 1:05:45 [4] 7.0 mi (9:24 / mi)

Started at Barton and ran the B2B trail. Our miles were very consistent (except for 1). I carried water and was pretty good about drinking, it definitely helped. Best I've felt on a longer run for a while.

Bike (Commute) 30:00 [1] 5.0 mi (10.0 mph)

Run (Trail) 38:00 [3] 3.25 mi (11:42 / mi)

BF convinced me to go trail running after our triathlon yesterday...not a fun run. My legs were shot, so we ended up walk/jogging. Checked out Marshal Park/Tom Freeman preserve. It was a nice trial, a little short, but I would go back.

Triathlon race (Sprint ) 1:26:15 [5] 15.3 mi (5:38 / mi)

TRI Holly sprint triathlon

Swim (500 m): 14:25
T1: 1:43
Bike (12 mi): 44:13 [16.3 mph]
T2: 0:59
Run (3 mi): 24:57 [8:02]

Nice weather for a race. Cloudy, mid-70's, not too humid. Race was a little unorganized. We were seeded based on expected swim time almost an hour before the race was scheduled to start...not sure what they were thinking there. Started the swim one person at a time. The swim went well, I'm getting better at sighting. Bike was very hilly. It was all up or down, so I had a hard time getting into a rhythm. The first quarter or so was tough, I think I was getting warmed up and then the rest felt pretty good. It was 2x out and back, closed to traffic. The run started with a hill out of the transition area. I felt like I was crawling up that. The rest of the run was mildly hilly. I felt pretty good, the last half mile or so was rough. The hills on the bike took their toll. Overall, I was very happy with my performance. Finished 5th female overall. Although this race had no awards, so I think the faster people were absent. Still exciting :)

Kayaking 1:30:00 [4] 5.0 mi (3.3 mph)

Put our kayaks in at Argo and paddled up to the dam. Portaged around the dam and went to the end of the small lake at the top. It was getting pretty hot near the end, glad we went early! I would definitley paddle here again. It was close and a nice paddle. Current wasn't too strong, but we did notice a difference in our splits out vs back.

Bike (Commute) 30:00 [3] 5.0 mi (10.0 mph)

Run 26:50 [3] 3.0 mi (8:57 / mi)

Quick run after a long day. Felt pretty good considering it was hot and humid.

Bike (Commute) 30:00 [1] 5.0 mi (10.0 mph)

Bike (Road ) 1:33:00 [4] 24.0 mi (15.5 mph)

Biked down to lab, made a quick stop and then headed out for a ride. Ended up going a little farther than I was planning on due to a missed turn, but it was a beautiful day for a ride.

Climbing 1:30:00 [3]

Been a while since we've been climbing. Tried a 5.12- and was able to make it about half way up with only a few falls. New project route!

Sunday Jul 12, 2015 #

Run 45:46 [3] 5.0 mi (9:09 / mi)

Ran up into the park before our long car drive. My legs were very sluggish, maybe from not eating before?

Saturday Jul 11, 2015 #

Canoeing 2:06:00 [4] 8.0 mi (3.8 mph)

Started off with the wind, paddled 4mi up Seneca Lake. We zoomed right along. Return trip was a bit slower, the lake got a bit choppy and we were going into the wind. Arms were pretty tired by the end, but overall it was a good paddle.

Thursday Jul 9, 2015 #

Bike (Mtn) 1:30:00 [3] 16.0 mi (10.7 mph)

Calm bike ride along the Erie Canal bike trail. All flat except for one big hill on the way there and back. Feeling my legs from yesterday.

Hiking 8:30:00 [5] 13.5 mi (37:47 / mi) +700m 32:32 / mi

Hiked Iroquois, Algonquin and Wright today, since the last time we hiked them we were in the clouds. Forgot how much I enjoy hiking in the ADKs! We started off by hiking in past Avalance Lake. It was a beautiful as we remembered. Especially considering the weather was perfect for hiking, low 70's and sunny instead of the 40 and raining we had last time. Hiked up the backside of Algonquin. It was steep, but went by pretty quickly. The first peak we summited was Iroquois. A bit hazy off in the distance, but we still had amazing views. Went on to hit Algonquin (2nd highest peak) and then Wright on the way out. Knees were starting to hurt after the long downhill.

Hiking 3:45:00 [3] 7.5 mi (30:00 / mi)

Hiked up Pitchoff in the ADKs. Not a high peak, but that was a good thing today since all the higher peaks were in the clouds. Had some pretty good views considering it was such a short hike. Ended up doing a loop and hiking back along the road. It started raining when we were almost back down. The shoulder was very narrow in places, jogged the ~2.5mi back to the car. Wouldn't recommend hiking back along the road.

Bike (Road ) 55:00 [3] 15.0 mi (16.4 mph)

Quick bike near Lake Placid. Forgot what it was like to bike real hills! Crawled on the ups and flew on the downhills.

Sunday Jul 5, 2015 #

Canoeing 1:15:41 [3] 5.0 mi (4.0 mph)

Paddled across Seneca Lake and back. Lake was fairly smooth, got a little rough toward the far shore. Were able to keep a pretty straight line both there and back, somewhat suprising!

Saturday Jul 4, 2015 #

Bike (Road ) 1:00:18 [3] 15.7 mi (15.6 mph)

Out and back along Lake Rd. With the wind at our backs we were zooming on the way out. Headwind was pretty terrible on the way back, so we slowed way down.

Canoeing 1:00:00 [3] 3.5 mi (3.5 mph)

Estimating the distance and time. We paddled along the shore of Seneca Lake. Very choppy on the way out. We were headed almost directly into the wind so it was very slow going. Once we turned around we flew back. Tried paddling with kayak paddles in the canoe, we both thought it worked really well. Not sure if there's a big speed advantage, but both BF and I found them less tiring than canoe paddles.

Friday Jul 3, 2015 #

Run 35:04 [4] 4.0 mi (8:46 / mi)

Out and back through the park by the cottage. Uphill on the way out and downhill on the way back.

Thursday Jul 2, 2015 #

Swim 30:00 [3] 1.2 km (25:00 / km)

100 warmup
2x500 (9:54 - very consistent!)
100 cool down

Wednesday Jul 1, 2015 #

Run 52:30 [4] 5.9 mi (8:54 / mi)

Loop down and around campus. Legs weren't feeling great but kept up a decent pace.

Bike (Commute) 40:00 [1] 6.0 mi (9.0 mph)

Biked to work and made a detour to drop off flags.
