Note

im curious if anyone regularly tracks pre and post race weight, and what you see.

I am down 7 pounds after breakfast the day after python. With drinking ~1.5 gallons of water during the race.

Gory details in comment.

Rogaine race 7:50:56 [3] *** 21.99 mi (21:25 / mi) +588m 19:46 / mi
44c shoes: Salomon SpeedCross 4 - BLACK

I'm really annoyed with how this race went. I went in determined to feel good and do the right things. I stayed on top of water, food, and ecaps as well as ever, and I still got destroyed. Hours 4-7 were rough. Sydney took my pack and the stick, so she was literally doing everything. I took my shirt off and dipped my hat in streams to try to get cooler. Its quite obvious she could have cleared without me, and I held her back. A big let down for me. Need to figure out something in the next 2 weeks.

Her nav was right on as always, with only 1 bobble. If I had been helping at all it probably could have been avoided.

Afterwords, spent a restless night tent camping in the pouring rain, trying to avoid charlie horses.

I dont have much to say otherwise. The race was well organized and control placement was right on. The NEOOC folks are all very friendly. Good to catch up with SMOC peeps. We took 2nd behind team Kiwi with 44/46 controls and 2170/2260 pts.

I must not have locked my watch and hit pause around the hour 7 mark. Dont get to see my valiant effort to pick up the pace in order to get to the finish on time :(

Booked flight to GA Thursday 1/17 night - Sunday 1/20 night (Skipping extremeO). Let me know if you're interested in carpooling/bunking. We'll probably camp but may be convinced otherwise with a group.

Extraordinarily lazy run (I drove to the trail). Left right at dusk with a headlamp that turned out to be dead, so it was pitch black by the time I finished.
