needed to do something.

still got some ache around the injection site, and some slight nervy twinges. a bit down along the inside of my hammy today. upper back is a bit tighter than it has been.

also did some more stretching, nerve flossing and yoga.

sciatic nerve is continuing to settle, although I've still got some bruising around the injection site. twinginess down the leg is now occasional and minor.
normally I'd be getting a lot of tightness through piriformis, itb etc with this many days off training, but that doesn't seem to be happening.
continuing with gentle stretching and nerve flossing. Sitting is still bad, but we all know that sitting is evil at the best of times.

update. stuff is definitely going on. didn't sleep last night, despite not having much pain - it seemed like the body just had too much happening.
general discomfort level in hip/pririformis is mostly moderate relative to recent flare ups. I've had a few big twinges which seem to last for 5-10mins and settle - randomly happens in hammy, calf and foot. I certainly know exactly where that nerve goes now.
taking anti-inflams and panadol to try and keep things from seizing up. doing regular gentle nerve flossing, stretching and mobilisation.
sitting is v bad.

Got a 'dynamic ultrasound' on my sciatic nerve today, where they look for adhesions which are causing nerve entrapment and all the other nastiness associated with piriformis syndrome. If they find something they then inject cortisone and saline to separate the adhesions and allow the nerve to move more freely. they did the injection - they use local to put the needle in, but it doesn't stop it hurting when the needle hits the nerve - that still feels like your toe went in a power socket. apparently the injecting process indicated that the adhesions were much worse than it had looked on the ultrasound and I may have to have another round in a month. I also can't do any proper training for a couple of weeks - just gentle pilates and some swimming (arms only to start with). also lots of gentle nerve flossing (that seems like a contradiction).
I went very wonky early on, but nurse Helen looked after me, and some jelly beans sorted me out fairly quickly. butt and leg have been a bit weird since, and feeling in my toe and foot comes and goes. lets see if this works...
