Orienteering race 1:18:00 [4] 9.3 km (8:23 / km) +385m 6:57 / km

OY at Leyburn. Really nice area - interesting and runnable spur gully. This is the area they should have used at easter instead of the next hill over!

The course was really good - some interesting challenges and route choice options. I had a few wobbles - not climbing enough on 6 and doing a loop around the spur, then missing the route choice back across to 13 - the sides of the hill had heaps more rocky ground than was mapped - over the top of the hill would have been better.
My main mistake was in the vague area along the creek before 14 - I ran straight instead of along the track as the forest was really open, but there was an extra major creek and some other smaller detail which wasn't mapped. I got really confused and stopped for a while to try and relocate, but eventually just figured I hadn't gone far enough and kept running.

Physically felt a bit flat - could run ok but not hard, and concentration wasn't great. I had a bit of a niggle in the front of my right ankle after yesterdays run and it flared up after about half way today - it really didn't like contouring or running downhill. Will have to watch this.

Running 1:04:00 [3] 10.2 km (6:16 / km)

Run from my place, with Mark, Clare and Katelyn. We all decided an easier run than usual was in order - easing into the start of winter training... and winter has certainly put in an early appearance today! The porridge for breakfast was very nice to warm us up!

We haven't seen too much of Clare or Katelyn recently and I think they both found it a little harder than they would have liked, but I'm sure they'll be back in no time! I ran with Mark, but apparently had a completely different run. His was ploddy while mine was more like tempo pace. Ran frosties quite hard which was fun. still a bit useless on hills.

Good post run coffee at bean. One very cute puppy at the cafe, and one very big stupid jumpy dog.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Still very tired after two weekends of racing and have felt like I've been fighting off the flu for the last few days. I figure this week is as good as any for a week off.
Back is also starting to act up, so back to the chiro tmw.
